Every time I pick my two little lads up, I end up being covered in hairs - white ones when it's Sweep and brown ones when it's Fudge. Is this normal only I don't remember them losing any hair when they were a few weeks younger

Shedding hair at times is normal. It can be a reaction to the hot weather.

Have an eye for increased itching, skin flakes with hair attached or bald spots; they would be signs for mites or fungus.

How old are they?

they might be becoming long haired- when we first got our two, their hairs were normal length and didn't come off as easily. As they got older their hair grew a lot, now it grows until it's about 2 cm that's off the body (like, that's dragging along the ground around Figgy)! It comes out a lot now, there are always white hairs all over his fleece.

I should say it's pretty normal, especially considering the time of year and (if) they are quite young.

Fudge is nearly 13 weeks old and he's a Coronet and Sweep is nearly 22 weeks old and he's a Ridgeback. I'm giving them a bath at the weekend with Manuka & Neem shampoo now that Fudge is old enough with a dose of Xeno 450 once Fudge reaches 800g just to be on the safe side as Sweep did have mange when I had him. They are not scratching that much although Fudge drinks alot of water and Sweep barely any

Oops, I don't know why I thanked that post... Force of habit, I suppose.

I guess it's a good idea to bath them, yes, but I wouldn't worry too much. It is very hot weather and it's normal to malt around this time of year.

The water, I don't think makes much difference, although Sweep not drinking much in the summer could be a problem- I guess it depends if he gets a lot of fluid from his food.

Hope this helped~

Moulting guinea pigs and moulting chickens at the same time. Two things I've never seen before at the same time!
