As a new piggy mum, I'm still earning lol. But just wanted to check if I'm giving my boys the correct food. They have Wagg guinea pig crunch for their dried food, hay available at all times, and in the morning and evening they get their veggies. This consists of, round lettuce, cauliflower, celery, carrots, cucumber and sometimes some corn etc. Is this ok?

Yes, it is! But I would replace round lettuce with Romaine lettuce, it's more nutrional. Cauliflower leaves are OK, as is broccoli, greens, pointed cabbage, kale and spinach in moderation, parsley, basil, mint, carrot greens, apple, pear, melon (not watermelon, though), green beans; red peppers are very good for vitamin C.

You'd better not introduce more than one new veg at any given time and leave it hanging round for a day or two, so they can get used to it. Then try again a couple of weeks later.

thanks :) They've had broccoli last week ( which they loved lol, and pea pods, which they didn't). I'm going to admit to being a total ignoramous here, but what is romaine lettuce? I've looked in the supermarket and can't see anything called that. We've tried, green, red and orange peppers, and they turned their noses up at all of them lol.

Isn't lettuce advised not to be fed every day? I thought it could cause digestion problems and diarrhea.

thank goodness for that, 'cause I got one of those bags of mixed lettuce leaves (made sure there were no iceberg ones in it lol) and they loved it!

good to hear;),if you want to try some new things,my piggies favourites are
pak choy, fresh Basil, parsely, red peppers(for vit C) they also love yellow and green peppers, chinese brocolli, corn husks and corn silks x

That sounds fine to me. They're very lucky pigs. Of all the lettuces, mine prefer round lettuce. It's always been a favourite with mine, and I have kept guineas for 15 years +, with no digestion problems so I wouldn't worry. I have a few more suggestions too: parsley, spinach, mango, apple, pears, banana :)

I buy the mixed salad bags too, the minute they hear the bags they start wheeking! Cant believe your piggies dont like red peppers! mine love it! :))

LOL, they don't like the red pepper, but they have decided they love green pepper!
