Hiya, this grows in my lawn and I don't know what it is or whether it is safe for our piggies . it grows tiny white flowers in it. Any ideas please? 20170412_080533.webp

Do you have any clearer photos? As it's growing, or otherwise from above or with leaf/ flower detail?

We have this on our lawn. I'm not sure what it is but the pigs haven't shown any interest in eating it

Is it sticky at all? To me the stem looks like some goosegrass I've seen, but it's not really clear enough to tell.

Could it be hairy bittercress? Have a look at Google images and see if it seems the same.

Ours have eaten it before now. I'll have a dig around to find the list with it on :)

We have some in our lawn. I do try and pull it out before I move the run, but I've occasionally missed bits. It can't be that tasty for pigs as mine don't seem to touch it.

Hope that helps.

It has a slightly bitter/ mustardy taste, which isn't to everyone's liking :)

Many apologies for not getting back to you on this! I'm a forget numptey (call me Dory:))) I'll have another look. I know our boys have definitely nibbled at it before, in fact I don't think there's anything the silly boys haven't sampled! :)) But I'll always say "if in doubt, pull it out" :) x

Hi guys, what I do know is there is one weed that is poisonous to piggies and that's is buttercup so if your littleuns are nibbling round just make sure none of these are there. A few other no nos are: avocado pear, potato, tomato leaves. A good site to check out is Dr Mercola, he has investigated piggie good foods and bad. He reckommends limiting sweet fruits to rarely give as well as carrots and cabbage. Great for them are romaine lettuce, kale greens, red leaf varieties of lettuce, red peppers, cucumber, celery (strip it of strings as choking hazard and organic celery due to high levels of pesticides in ordinary ones). Incidentally most garden weeds are edible for us. Good news as they smell great when I pull them up.

OOh - can we have a link to Dr Mercola?

I'm not sure I agree that romaine lettuce is good for Guinea Pigs - I'm happy to say it's not bad for them - but I wouldn't say it's good for them . I give my guineas romaine occasionally as they like it :)

Also, most of us on here tend to thing that green peppers are better for guineas than red - as there is less sugar in the green ones .
