My pig, George, has been breathing funny with his sawdust lately, so i've decided to swap him to fleece as I think the fleece will dry quickly if it becomes wet when he wees. I first put puppy pads down, then a bathroom towel doubled up and then the fleece on top. It looks really snuggly, but is this ok? I don't want to cause him any harm by doing this! I've been changing him in the morning as i'm usually at work all day. Is this enough? Although the fleece has been completely dry in the morning, the towel and puppy pads are damp in patches.

Sounds good. :)

The reason fleece is used on top is so it wicks away any wetness to the towels underneath. What I do is, if there are bed areas that George wees on more, then I put extra bits of fleece or fleecy pad etc there that I replace more often.

As long as the new fleece has had a few washes without using fabric conditioner it will do it's job of wicking away the wetness and keeping the top layer dry.

Bet George feels lovely and snuggly :)p

Thanks for your reply :) The colour of the fleece matches his home perfectly and he loves to nap on it. I think I might kit out my other 2 pigs homes out too when I have a bit extra money to buy the fleeces.

Is it ok to use newspaper under the fleece will this work in soaking up the urine or is a towel better?

yes you can use newspaper instead of towels, I actually put newspaper under my towels so I have a very absorbant base to keep the fleece dry. You might find you need to change the newspaper more often than you would towels though.
