Is this rude or am I too sensitive?

She is Rude hun, If she was to get in contact again asking for more piggies i would say you have some 'reserved' and some you can't let go for a while and you'll get in touch with her when you have any ready to go.
Some people really do take the rise!

I am amazed this has turned into a donation discussion. Anyone who came into my piggy shed, poked, prodded, had a bad attitude, was concerned about breeds, would never in a million years go home with one of my pigs. She could offer me as much as she liked, but I would very politely say no. In fact I would probably be happy to pay her petrol money to send her away. I would gratefully receive any donation, little or large for a loving home. x
Yes she was very full of herself and knew her breeds, however the guinea pigs have gone to a loving home, one wheer the owner will love and look after them well, she just does not have people skills.

I would NEVER let any of my piggies go to a home that i wan't sure about. I also will accept a small donation as i do agree a loving home is the best. I am not in this for the money as like all rescue's run on a complete loss. I do cleaning jobs during the week which then the money from that goes straight to the guinea pigs. So yes i do expect more than £2.50 for a guinea pig, if this makes me wrong then so be it.

I can see both sides of the discussion. Rescues aren't there to make money (but they do need to make enough to continue running) and if a loving home was found for a piggie you might not worry that you weren't getting what a pet shop would get for that piggie. However, if people struggle to pay the minimum donation would you not worry that they'll struggle with vets bills and other piggie costs?

I suggest a minimum donation too && don't let the guinea pig go without it, say like, if you can't pay the the min donation, I don't know if I can trust you with a pig lol... you gotta get support some way, i mean it's nice and all people adopting them instead of buying from petstores but the good work the people do for the pigs like you can be expencive... maybe if she complains about the minimum say, I pay food, vet fees, bedding, so on, so on... It's expencive owning two pigs, let alone a ton =]

A minimum donation lets the person who wants to adopt know what to expect to pay, it's all very well and good relying on peoples good intentions, some can and will take the mickey as in this lady's case. I, personally find it easier if a donation benchmark is stated, then I don't umm and ahh about not going over the top or not giving enough, because I really don't like asking about money.:red

I would never go into somebody elses piggie shed and take piggies out to inspect without being asked if I wanted to first. What if the piggie was extremely nervous it would surely be detrimental to any good work that had been done. Or if the piggie had ringworm? Regardless of how informed this lady may of been I think she was rude to just take over in your shed, and I would of been a bit taken back by it I think, manners cost nothing as my granny always said.
