I have just come across this lady giving advice about ginea oig care on you-tube. I have never seen a more organised or pristine (or cute, lots of Hello Kitty which I love!) piggy set up in my life! Makes me want to immediately go out and purchase tons of tupperware!

Are you more organised than this lady? And if so, can you give ME some tips! I think it would be a nice idea if the more experienced members gave some tips on general care, routines, checking their guinea pigs, mistakes they have learned from.

You learn so much more from other people's experiences than you do from books!

One of the most important things I have learned is that sometimes a two level hutch gives less space than a single level one. My last hutch had two levels, but because of the space than the ramp and the hole for the ramp took up it cut down the ammount of floor space for the pigs! They now have a single storey which gives room for jumping about and having toys and things!

I think your right with the hutch thing - I would much rather have a large one all on one level because it gives the piggies chance to run around. I've got two Lavender Lodges for my piggies and they love running round in it.:))

Lol - that was a fab video! She is super organised! She's making me want to go away out and organise me. I absolutely love Hello Kitty too! I'm hoping to move my 2 guinea pigs into the spare room soon so make look at copying her set-up.

Its so weird because after I had watched that video I jumped up and filed all my statements and bills, with dividers and everything. I think there is some sort of subliminal organisation message in it! I am also going to clear one of the sheds of junk so that I can put lots of boxes of pig supplies in there!:)

Well I am not going to put my name forward for being that organised, that's for sure! Did she say that she 'freezes' her dry food? Think I might just go and have a tidy up...

I'm obsessed with organising my guinea pig stuff.
I have loads of different pots to keep their food in. I have this shelving stand next to the cage which contains their food, news paper, some of the fleece and the bottom drawer/shelve is for medicine. I'm still looking for a box big enough to keep the ready grass in.
And for each guinea pig I have a photo album and I have a separate one for group pictures (just found this deal on the web to get 100 photo prints for 3 pounds something).
And I have a folder with their adoption certificates, shampoo instructions etc etc
I just wish I was so organised when it comes to the rest of the house.

Wow, Hoshishi, I think you come a close 2nd in the piggy organisation stakes!:))

Lol - you are just about as organised as the lady on the video! I am so jealous! I have just have stuff everywhere. :)

To me it doesn't matter where the stuff is stored but my mum is always brushing my floor over the slightest bit of hay. If the piggies or Miffy wake me up because they've ate all their hard food I get up open bag give them it then close bag and leave it infront of cage. But in morning I get told off because where the bag has been left and because I never took the food out of the tub instead of bag rolleyes I don't like being organised :)) I like the Hello Kitty stuff though :)

She sounds like she has way too much time on her hands:)) I am organised but come on chill a little:))

Wow, that is one hell of an organised lady!

They must be very organised piggies as well as it looks like they only wee in one area of the cage. Wish mine did! rolleyes :))

My shed looks like an explosion in a retail park i have books boxes pet carriers guinea pig food hay all over the place i'd love a weekly dose of OCD to keep me organised!:))

I go through stages - have a big 'Spring' clean and everything organised and then it goes slowly downhill...

You have to be fairly organised once you have lots of pigs, otherwise day to day stuff takes ages because you can't find anything!

Spent the weekend doing piggy-related DIY, will post some pics later! All organised for winter!

Yes, she is very organised - but am I the only one who got ever so slightly irritated by her voice? Its like she watched legally blonde and did not realise it was tongue-in- cheek.... ?/

The way she talked to her piggies made me laugh!
She even rolled her towels, bless her! My towels get shoved in the airing cupboard and the door shut quickly incase there is an avalanche on towel mountain!mallethead

Some advice:

Do it like me! I now use a blanket box (15 pound from Argos) to store them in - they are still a mess but nobody sees them, PLUS there will never be an avalanche as they are below me not above lol!

If you are really creative you could even paint piggies or veggies on the outside of the box (or hello kitties stickers, whatever)

Lol - I use a seagrass blanket box to throw my hay/food etc in. Its great, you can throw it in any old way and no-one can see it! :)
