Hi everyone! Usually I buy different hay from the petshop, but I was getting fed up by the quality, as it is so dusty. And I heard timothy hay is the best hay, so I strayed online to search for suppliers, as you pay €10 for just a few grams in the petshop and my piggies would devour that in 2 days. But I’m not sure if this is how timothy hay should look… it’s quite yellow in color (i’ve heard this can happen when it’s been dried), but also quite thick and hard? Almost like straw maybe? I’m not sure. Can anyone tell me if this is any good? My guinea pigs do seem to like it and eat it.

Hello it does look like Timothy hay with the seed heads and thicker strands but usually Timothy hay is more green
Do you know when it was packed ? I think sometimes if it’s dried in the field it goes more yellow tho
Do you have any farms nearby that sell hay ?
Hi! Thanks for the reply. I was worried because it’s so thick/rough it wouldn’t be good for the piggies. I have no idea when it was packed unfortunately, I ordered it online. As far as I know there’s nothing nearby… :( the piggies seemed to like the hay, but when I checked later they didn’t seem to have eaten that much, so idk
(If anyone know a good hay supplier in NL, lmk haha)
