After having read the thread 'killing them with kindness' and reading how much you feed all your piggies, I am concerned if I am giving mine too much food. So I thought it best to take photos of them at breakfast. They have this amount of veg, twice a day, plus unlimited amount of pellets, hay and the sticks that are in there permanently.

I am also monitoring the baby weights, so decided to weigh them all and see if these are ok.

Rudy (8 months) 950 gr
Matty (8 months, has given birth to 7 pups in the last two months) 900 gr

Willow (2 months) 520 gr
Ash (2 months) 490 gr
Chestnut (2 months) 470 gr

Arwyn (6 days) weight at birth 100 gr Now 135 gr
Tara (6 days) weight at birth 90 gr Now 125 gr
Vashti (6 days) weight at birth 80 gr Now 105 gr

Am I overfeeding them? The 2 month old girls seem rather plump and heavy, or is this the normal growth into adulthood?

Thanks so much. I'd be lost on gp care if it wasn't for this forum.

I think that you are a bit too generous with your veg - those plates would feed the whole Tribe for a generous breakfast (they also get dinner and a "night night tidbit" of cucumber and celery), followed by some 3 handfuls of pellets!

Your piggies are a very good weight indeed! My (rescue born) Telyn was the same weight when she came to me at 8 weeks old - I thought she was HUGE!

Seems like a lot of veg to me! Maybe try giving them a selection of veg in smaller amounts throughout the day? The recommendation is 50g veg per adult pig per day.

Also, I'd lose the treat sticks. They're full of sugar at the pigs don't need and are a choking hazard.

HTH

Seems like a lot of veg to me. Plus they shouldn't be getting unlimited pellets.

Pellets are the least important thing but, if anything, should make up no more than 10% of their diet. It should be a fairly strict 80% hay and 10% each for veg and pellets.

It's also important to think about the types of veg you feed your piggies.

Just as a comparison for you... this is what I feed three..

My lot also get unlimited hay and almost always have pellets (but this is mainly becasue they don't eat all of their pellets)

:)

That looks so good I almost fancy it as a midnight snack lol :))

Is that what you feed three once a day, or twice?

Once a day :)

They do sometimes get a small something in the morning now too, (say a romaine leaf each or a handful of greens between them) but not every day. More often than not they just got tonnes of hay in the morning and veggies in the evening.

I usually give mine a cup each of veg a day, unlimited hay and a handful of pellets.

I know that people have already said it but the treat sticks, IMO, are just a waste of time. I know piggies might like them but they're just so full of rubbish that it's not of any nutritional value. Better to save the money and buy them an extra toy!

Beautiful piggies though x)
