Hiya just a quickie :)
Iv read somewhere in passing that too many carrots can cause bladder stones..
Is there any truth to this?

I've been told carrot can cause problems and my piggie with bladder problems is only allowed one carrot a week. I'd recommend leaving it to around that amount. =)

Too much carrot can primarily cause long term liver problems because vitamin A is not water soluble and will accumulate in the liver. But too much won't help with a low calcium diet.

I've stopped giving mine carrot completely as they weren't eating it and I was throwing a lot away.

Uh oh. Now i am a bit scared. I give my piggies 2 carrots a day. *SQUEAK*!

My boyfriend fed the piggies the other morning for me, I had a lie in for a change :) iv never seen so much carrot in my life poor babies :( hence why I asked :))

Mine get carrot occasionally because of the Vit A thing. The boys love it, but the girls aren't overly bothered. :)

When you look at it closely, most foods are not good in great quantities. Everything as part of a mix and in moderation is the best way forward.

I find carrot does seem to set off Tangos bladder problems a bit, could just be coincidental though as I've got no solid proof!

You can always replace carrot with raw beetroot with bladder piggies. Beetroot seems to counter the calcium. Or serve carrot and beetroot together; that seems to do the trick with mine. I only feed carrot in small quantities anyway.

Fab tip! Thanks! Will have to try this out....

I only feed carrot in a small amount too and mix it up with raw beetroot. Mine love them but they only get them in a very thin sliver each every couple of days or so :)
