Isolating so struggling to get food

I have a bag of greens left & some pepper which are about to go out of date or be used up in a day or so and can't really get to the shops to buy more, so my question is... Is Hay, nuggets and fresh grass everyday enough for there diet? They are use to getting a handful of fresh greens, and either cucumber,pepper,carrots or apples a few times a week so without all this I'm worried it's not good for them, they haven't long been introduced to grass as only been out in there run a few times a week in the last 4weeks? So if I give it to them all day everyday will it be too much?
Also they dont seem bothered by the nuggets I've been giving them lately as my last shop had to sub there guinea pig nuggets to rabbits, which is slightly bigger but seemed to be going down ok until this last week or 2! It eventually gets eaten but can still be some left in the morning!. Any advice please?

Did you check the rabbit nuggets ingredients were suitable for guinea pigs? Some aren’t and they sometimes aren’t fortified with vitamin c as rabbits don’t need to have Vit c supplemented to them.


Hay and grass is the ideal diet for guinea pigs. Nuggets are the least important part. Veg ensures a good mix of nutrients are provided. You do need to be careful if you suddenly increase the amount of grass they are given but grass is their natural food so is fine to give it to them in place of veg. On days when my boys are out on the lawn all day, I don’t give them as much veg as spring grass counts as veg

No I didn't, i just googled if rabbit nuggets were safe for gunieas ? Do i need to check if it contains vitamin c then or something else?

I've ordered 2 bags of guinea pigs and let's hope they don't sub again, thanks for your help

I wouldn’t feed them pellets meant for rabbits at all. Partly because they have different nutritional needs and also because pellets make up a small part of their diet. If you can’t get them with your shop perhaps you could order them on amazon. Good luck.
