i just found a huge lump between brownpigs jaw and front leg. Golf ball sized.

This is the same thing that happened to Beans last summer. I found a lump, took him to the vets and two days later he had gone.

I have been a bit worried about brownpig the last week or so. He has been slightly thinner around his hips, and i thought it was just because they havent been outside to eat grass for days because of the snow. They have loads of hay, but they dont seem to like it as much as fresh grass. They get fredh veg every day.

His eyes are bright, his fur is soft. He is eating and pooping and has been fine apart from the willy biting incident a few weeks ago. I cant see that this is related.

I am away in germany for four days from monday, meaning if he goes downhill fast, i wont be here and housemate will have to take care of him.

Idont know what to do, the vets isnt open tomorrow and i leave 5am monday, socant take him on monday either.

Any thoughts?

All I can suggest is try to get to another vet today if yours is closed or they should have an emergency vet that covers when they are closed. If the lump is something like an abscess then I think it needs treated sooner rather than later.... but a vet would need to see it to be able to tell what it is.

Good luck - hope brownpigs gonna be okay

I am so sorry about your quandary.

Where do you live? Perhaps somebody from the forum can help?

I amin norwich.

I have calledthe vets and discussed, and she said if it is an abscess, he will likely be ok for four days IF housemates keep a close eye on him. I have left them a huge pile of ood for them, and have said if he stops eating or running around, could they take him to the vets that evening..

Te alternarive is going in this aftenoon, but it will be £120 emergency fee, on top of the costs for abs and anything else. While i did this for beans last year when he was really sick, realistically, i feel it is a bit much for a bright pig who hasnt stopped eating all morning who has a lump he may have had for a while. Please dont judge me on this, as i said, i have asked HMs to take him in the week and definitely if he gets worse. I will have him booked in on friday when i get home. I just wich i wasnt going away tomorrow.

If anyone is in the vicinit and has experience, or can offer to taken him in, it would be very much appreciated!
