Midge went for a check-up yesterday and I had noticed a small red sore on each of her back feet. The sores are at the very back of her feet just where the foot turns up to the leg. The vet thinks it might be the start of bumblefoot. She's bedded on fleece/vetbed which is changed every other day and the hay is changed daily. She has a very good diet with additional vit c as well as being on metacam and septrin long term. He advised using Vaseline to coat the area but nothing else. I've been applying sudocrem. Midge is getting on a bit in piggy years so I wondering whether it could be urine scald where she can't be bothered to move from a damp spot. Can somebody offer any more advice I've been reading up on the problem and it seems like I'm doing everything already. Thanks.

I'd say make sure her feet are always on soft bedding and keep applying her treatment. Also, feed her lots of nutritious food like capsicum and lots of fruit and veg (vitamins and calcium); this will keep her immune system in a good way whilst it's fighting the sores.
Hope this helps :)

Hmmmm urine scould is not fun at all. I was recommended camomile lotion which I tried, although I am not sure if it helped to create a barrier whilst it did the work. I am just wondering if gorgeous guineas could recommend something? Does sound like your doing everything possible. I found that it was persistence in changing bedding, Treatment and encouragement to get my piggy to move around.

Good luck

Aww I am sorry to hear that. My late Ehab suffered with urine scald on his feet and twice a day I applied Vaseline.
