This morning when I was packing up to travel for 4 hours to get to where I'm studying my masteral course, I noticed that Almond sneezed. When he sneezed again, I checked his nose and the left side was wet. So I was one hour late for my class and had to take a scared little piggy with me into the classroom. My professor and my classmates adored him. After the class, I went to the only reliable exotic animals vet hospital that I know of.
At first, the vet found nothing but when she checked again, she noticed that his left lung is slightly congested. The vet said that he might have sniffed something that irritated his lungs but she put him on antibiotics just to be sure. He'll be on a lot of vitamins for a month and antibiotics for a week (almost spelled that as wheek). He's eating just fine, is as energetic as ever, and got a baby carrot for the trip- it's his comfort food. I'm also currently (yes, as in right now, just took a break to write this before I forget) remodeling his enclosure so that the wood chips are only on a fourth of the space, the rest of the space will have a soft mat on it.
Side story: When I was buying some hay, another customer walked up to me and said " don't take him to Peru, they eat guinea pigs there " mallethead I wanted to retort with something that involved human cannibals and that the guy shouldn't take a vacation there. Must be the lack of sleep for almost 24 hours due to travelling.
