Both my first two piggies are pretty chilled out and I barely notice when they come into season. But one of my new girls Bella came on heat today and it's been trouble all day!

Chasing all the other piggies around, even the dominant two, trying to hump them all. There's been rumble strutting every five minutes, massive popcorn jumps, mass squeeking, piggie hidies and boxes knocked about all over the place, piggies sliding off ramps, charging into pigloos and hidey spaces and then out again, stand offs with returned rumbling, nose pushing, kicking out back feat from the most submissive piggie Treacle who seems to get the worst of the attention. Treacle finally had enough and started squirting urine at Bella the on heat aggressor. They have all calmed down For now but am sure it will all kick off again in a minute.

As long as no one gets hurt or really stressed out in the process!

Mine trash their cage on a regular basis. They push litter trays out of the way and poo and wee behind them, spread hay around d from the litter trays and tip and wee in the plastic hideys.

It all calmed down 24 hours later, so normal service is now resumed and no one got hurt. The cage was gutted though, so had mammoth cleaning drive last night, all pigloos had to be washed, the fleece liner washed and the floor swept, along with the usual ritual of changing all the litter trays and bedding area. Temporary fleece in today whilst everything dries, then its all back in tonight. No one would now suspect this was the scene of a piggie battle yesterday!

Hair brained lovely little fluff balls!

Lol, I know what you mean! I have 9 girls in with a neutered male, sometimes it is a bit hectic. Good job they only come into season for a day or so !

I have six girls and this sounds very normal. Always stroppy and trashing the cage but then popcorning afterwards.. Always so pleased with themselves. :P

Today we didn't have in heat strops, today was a full blown fight. No one appeared on heat. Ruby is normally a dominant piggie but she got chased around the cage by Bella and then cornered for a full on scrap. Lots of squeaking and charging around until normally skittish and quiet boss piggie Luna came down to sort it all out. She enforced her dominance and got Bella cornered herself and after a minute all tempers deflated and Bella skunk off to the far side of the cage.

It really was like Luna came in to save Ruby as Matriach piggie. Can't say there was popcorning afterwards, more like quietly hiding away from each other and trying to restore pride with a bit of half hearted hay nibbling.

Can someone give me advise please. I think one of my sows is in heat shes started rumble strutting snd the other sow keeps smelling her bum but for the past few days the one i think is having her time of the month lol well she is so jumpy much more than normal at me trying to pick her up is rhat linked to being on heat or is that just cause shes going through a phase of being nervous as she did have to keep getting eye drops due to an eye infection and they have only been here just over 3 weeks now but she was never that bad at being picked up but is however ok once shes on my knee and she has been lying down loads in the cage and seems happy and is eating and drinking well. Any help would be much appreciated
