.... I finally gave in and bought some of the hay sample packs from Animal Magic... I had to see what all the fuss was about... and I think I may have been sucked in already.
I only gave the girls a tiny handful of Oxbow orchard grass to try and then it went quiet for a looooooooong time. There was lots of sniffing, then tasting, then munching and when they'd had enough both sprawled out on the fleece and went to sleep. I swear if they wore trousers they'd have undone the buttons.
Having snoozed they've gone back to hoover up the remnants and Delilah is doing this :laluot_27:

while Flumpet is running laps doing this
:laluot_26:

... and we've yet to try the other packs. I may only be able to afford this as a treat hay but I've never seen my girlies so content.
I bow to the superior knowledge of the hay masters. :(|)

Woohoo.... Pull up a seat!

I swear if orchard grass hay, wasn't hay I would eat it myself :))! DRied bunny grass hay is my pigs second favourite but orchard grass is the first :)!

I opened that packet first purely on your previous recommendation. :))

Sounds about right!

Let them enjoy, what's next?

Oxbow timothy hay, burns oat hay and burns meadow hay. They're only going to get sprinkles of it to forage in amongst their normal hay but they seem pretty happy with the arrangement so far. :(|)

I'm going to have a go at growing some barley grass too.

hay addiction is pretty bad, glad i can still deny it lol :)

Well, I never knew just what I didn't know about hay until I joined this forum!

I ordered 7 sample packs and we ran trials with our boys. We would put the hay in a pile during floor time and time how long it took them to smell it and find it, then how much they seemed to enjoy it.
Our highly technical survey :)) gave the following results:

in 3rd place - Bunny Nature Fresh Grass Hay
in 2nd place - Botanical Hay
and in 1st place - ta ** - Orchard Grass.

I shall be placing my order forthwith!

Many thanks to the hay experts on here. x>>

Funny my lot aren't interested in the botanical hay. I was shocked.

The favourites here are Orchard Grass, Timothy hay and green oat hay

I got hay... well ordered!

Figured were better to post than a hay thread..

Oxbow organic meadow hay and Alfa Wheat, barley and Oat :))...

Can't wait!
