It’s getting hot! Are you ready? 🥵

Absolute bliss, the temperature has dropped to the mid teens and we have a slight breeze making it even cooler. First time it's been in the teens for nearly a week! 🥰
 
I went for a midnight cycle by our little river, hoping to come home all cooled down and able to sleep. It was a pleasant cycle, there were a number of others out cycling or walking too. But as soon as I parked my bike and was locking it up, I felt hot again. And as for walking up the stairs in my bldg and entering my own flat, I was greeted by a wall of hot air. It's cooler directly at my open windows, but everywhere else the hot air just stands. It's meant to cool down on Monday.

Mind you, my area of southern Germany is in a yellow (mild) heat warning area, everywhere else round about including about 20-25 km northwest and east have red heat warnings, orange - less severe than red - being bypassed completely. So it could be a lot worse!
 
We will have 39°C today, up to 40°C tomorrow and 39°C on Monday. 🥵
I hope the piggies will get through these days allright. Last night it was 27°C indoors but with minimum temperatures above 20°C the flat will get even warmer.

I'm very much looking forward to next Thursday when the worst of this heatwave will be over. But getting the temperature down inside will take a few days longer if we are lucky enough to get cooler nights.
We have had exceptionalty hot weather now for about 10 days.
 
We've had some rain overnight but it hasn't really cooled things down. I've got all the windows wide open. It's meant to be 21 outside but it's still 27 in the flat. It's going to be 31 again this afternoon. I'm not coping. Worried about Toffee and struggling with my own health.
 
London is only getting to 30C this afternoon and more patches of rain tonight should finally bring things down to 25C for next week 😌 There should be some cloud around too 👍 The cool hot water bottle trick is a good one 👍

Unfortunately the days when it's starting to cool down are the worst inside. It feels like the heat will be stuck inside forever because it's still in the walls.
And rain adds humidity so that it feels like a sauna.
Hope that it will be better soon.

It gives a mist of water. Still adding to the humidity though.

I think one of my piggies is going to need to go to the vets, she’s lost some weight, not fatal yet, but she’s very lethargic and she was a very active one. She tries eating and then I think he’s too hot and flakes out. I got her out and she feels so warm. Just wrapped her in a cool towel for a bit. I have work shortly so will do it again. She was around 1180 before greens steadily and now she’s 1140. It’s been a gradual decline through the heatwave. Something doesn’t seem right. Their room just never cooled down at all and then yesterday was warm and just topped it up
 
It’s a lot cooler today, I think yesterday was a killer for them. I had cool ceramic tiles in there and all sorts. I got her out this morning and she felt sooo warm. Wrapped her in a cooled off microfibre towel. She perked up a lot after that and the heat on the towel! She’s just eaten her greens and having some hay. Not going through this again, I will be investing in AC or something better for next time, for myself and the pigs! @CTWC
 
We have all melted!
Downstairs is currently 26.3C (7:45pm)Wallys frequently taking cool down breaks on the ice pads. Herman’s finally decided that the frozen water bottles are a good place to help cool down. He hasn’t felt the need for a duvet(pee pad) for at least 48hrs.

Our neighbours decided to have a very strong smelling cooking session at 6am this morning, which cut short my cooling down efforts.

We are definitely sleeping downstairs tonight. Upstairs is hotter than hot, compared to downstairs which is just hot!

Hurry up colder weather pls.

All the best, hope she’s ok. I had the same with one of mine, she’s coming round now. I think the hot weather finished just in time. Otherwise I was going to have to sort something better out than what I was trying, having said that if I hadn’t done what I did it could have been a different story. I don’t recall having this with my last Guniea pigs last year, but different breeds and these ones have the most dense coats going. It’s like sheep’s wool!
 
Cooler today in Somerset. We had incredible storms and lightening recently.

There is going to be another heatwave starting next Sunday. This heat is making me feel so ill. I have been feeling feint and nauseous for some months now but that and the heat together is almost unbearable.

Dr tomorrow. More tests probably.

At least the guinea pigs (who are in my bedroom) seem unconcerned. The rabbits are in the north facing front garden but I still worry about them. Won't be having small pets again once all these go. The weather is warming up so so much. The ozone layer is much thinner these days which is why we coped better in 1976 apparently.
