As you all know I took Tam away from all of the other pigglys at the weekend, and put her in the hutch outside because of her constant bullying. Shes doing extremly well outside. Hubby has made sure the tarpaulin is secure and I must say he made up a great way of making sure no drafts get in. In the mornings when I go out, she makes it known that shes in the hutch by headbutting her pigloo so it makes a banging noise.Very clever girl. Shes letting me pet her, and pick her up as well. Still struggles a bit when I have got her but what a total change.
Gaga is in with Boofle and her baby sow Bee. And they are getting on really well. Sharing food etc etc. This morning I spotted Gaga popcorning, first time ever. It just goes to show how much Tam was holding her back. Gaga has never been one for wheeking though, which is sad. But Boofle Bee and Bumble who is in on his own make enough noise to bring the house down.
I think Ive done the right thing

I have thankfully never been in that situation, but other members have had problems with excessive bullying and have made similar experiences. You cannot change a piggy's nature; some are simply not very social piggies!

You must be so chuffed that Gaga is so happy now!

I am yes. And I am pleased that Tam seems happier on her own. I think maybe thats what she wanted all along but couldnt tell me cos I dont understand her. Love her choppies. I went to the hutch today to take out the old hay and put new in and normally shed run a mile but I had to pick her up and move her out of the way.lol And she let me stroke her as well. I still feel bad about putting her outside. But shes a hardy little madam. And it was done with good intention. And she is warm.

Some piggies are like people - they just don't really do friendships. I'm really pleased she seems happier now :) and as long as she is warm she will be ok outside, you're hardly a 'chuck her out and forget about her owner' ;)

Oh noooo. Wouldnt even concider it. When I go out for my smoke first thing and shes banging her pigloo about I'm like OK OK I know year there. I dont deal with her or any of the others until Ive had a cuppa tea though. Then about 9am I do their veggies all at the same time and take the cover from the hutch. Its like a madhouse in here when they hear my slippers in the morning. hahaha they make me smile. And even my mother in law hasnt complained about them. In fact she said that yesterday while I was out shopping with my mum, Bumble who is on his own was tearing around his cage like a loonie toon kicking up all the wood shavings.hahaha She said it was one of the funniest things shes seen in a long time.

Aww bless little Bumble!

I do tell mine that I need my breakfast before they get theirs...I'm not really awake til I've had a coffee and a bit of toast!

What cover have you got on her hutch? I need to get some for all the boarding hutches but not sure if the Scratch and Newton ones are any good.

Hubby went and got a tarpaulin, but hes put hooks n the decking floor and at the front of the hutch so that it can be secured and keep the wind out. he said hes going to get some thick insulation you know with the silver backing and hes going to make me something so it keeps her warmer. She has loads of hay, a pigloo and he snuggly is in the pigloo. He has also said that he will get some perspex to put over theopenings as well. What a big softy.loldrool
Ive only gone with the tarpaulin because hubby made my huge two teird hutch so the measurements of the shop bought hutch covers just wont fit.lol
