Good luck tomorrow! The weight loss could just have been the amount of food in his belly: he might just have done some big poops!

Let's hope that Holly House have some good ideas about how to make him better.

xx

We are booked in with Adam this afternoon.

Don't think my other vets are going to be happy as Holly House are asking for notes to be sent over from my other vets. Eeek! Oh well... its tough!

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm assuming your not going to be going back there again in any case so it's not like you'll have to see those vets again!

Hope you get some answers this time x

Well... been to the vets and returned with a considerably lighter purse!

They did a urine test and also tested his blood (i will find out results from blood tomorrow) as the urine test showed some abnormalities with his kidneys, so they wanted to do a blood test to see what they were properly like before considering an xray under anaesthetic (he said the anaesthetic would make kidney problems worse if he has kidney probs). So basically, if all is well with kidneys tomorrow then he will have an xray under anaesthetic to find out if its bladder stones, and if it is bladder stones then he will need his operation to remove them.

A little bit worried money wise now, as i dont mind spending the money on him, it's just the funds are depeleting! £80 today, £61 for an xray and then £65 for the possible operation and i spent £90 in vet visits last week alone. dear oh dear!

Also think i spoke too soon about yorkie's weight, hes 917 this morning, hes lost nearly 100grams in 3 days, very worrying. i have just been mushing up some excel pellets to try feeding him tonight. he seems loads happier at the minute though, i dont understand.

please send some good vibes yorkie's way! he really needs them.
Amy xx

I'd ask the vet if he can do Yorkies xray without an anaesthetic especially if they're worried about kidneys.
I've had to xray 2 of my piggies and they didn't need a GA ,they just sat still on the xray plate with a few positioning aids to help.:)

If they find a stone they can always put him under anaesthetic then to do the op.

Hope Yorkie feels better soon x

Sending Yorkie our good health vibes!
Lots of love x
xoxo

Aww your piggies are gorgeous x)

I am sending lots of get well vibes for Yorkie :)

I know what you mean about vet visits, I spent nearly £500 on one of my piggies over the course of 5 months xx

I am sure that your vet can give x-raying Yorkie withoput GA a try under the circumstances!

Your boy is lovely; and I hope that you can get to the bottom of his problems. It is amazing how your money disappears when a piggy is seriously ill!

BIG VIBES!

Thanks - his blood results showed that his kidneys are really struggling (he's only 2 bless) and that it's higher than a normal piggy with a bladder stone. So basically I'm thinking its not a bladder stone afterall.
But he is booked in for an xray tomorrow morning under GA (which I'm NOT happy about as this affects the kidneys more, and he is already having kidney problems).
I have struggled to come to the right decision, and still dont know if this is the right decision but i have tried to do what is best for yorkie, what that is yet, i dont know.
xx

you are giving him a chance and thats the best any owner can do for their piggy, got everything crossed that you get some positive results tomorrow, good luck hun x

Hope everything goes well today for Yorkie, piggies are such a worry aren't they, I'm sure you will come to the right decision xoxo

Well, Yorkie is now at the vets. He was extremely stressed and upset as that's the longest he has been away from his friend. I hope everything goes well, I'm worried sick already. Time is going to go so slow today isn't it. Gosh i'm so worried! :{ Please be OK little Yokie, Mummy and Dave love you and want you back ASAP xx x>>

Thanks everyone, it means a lot to me that you care. Dave is searching the hutch for Yorkie, and squeaking very loud. He seems upset his friend isn't there. :( Hurry back little Yorkie xx

Good luck for you all today. Hope he's hoe soon and it's good news.

xx

Guys, it's bad news. Yorkie has died under the GA for his xray. I am devastated. I'm doing this from my mobile so will post full details later. He had a massive bladder stone and they were just about to operate to remove it and he stopped breathing and they tried to resucitate him but no response. I feel so guilty. He was so happy this morning. I have killed my poor little baby. And poor dave has lost his best friend. Oh I cant stop crying. X

I'm so sorry hun. Will wait to hear more from you later but please don't blame yourself, I still think it was the right decision to try as he was obviously in pain with it. Big hugs for you and Dave. x

Sleep tight little Yorkie. :rose

Oh geez, I'm so sorry Amy. :(

For what it's worth, the stone would have needed removing very soon from what you've explained of his condition, it could easily have become an emergency at any time and a lot more distressing for him, so really you had no choice, you had to do what was best for him and - knowing the diagnosis now - I hope it helps you to realise this to some degree. Better to have him treated sooner rather than later, although of course it doesn't make it any less sad that he didn't make it. At least he went peacefully under GA, and didn't have to struggle with the consequences of what you now know was his condition.

Huge hugs to you and Dave.

Rest well, dear Yorkie. x
