So today Iv'e been into the pet store that I bought my Guinea Pigs from to see if they had anything that they can chew in instead of my finger, my clothes and their pigloo's (yes I saw you Patchy, and heard you). So I had to check out the new Guinea Pigs while I was there and clearly the poor mother piggie of my girls has had another litter because there was three baby male piggies that looked EXACTLY like my Coco right down to the white stripe she has over her shoulders and another one looked like a fluffier version of Patchy but male. It just saddens me that these poor female guinea pigs are probably pregnant all year round and for a measly $5 that the pet store buys the babies for and sells them for $25 ( I was there once when the breeder bought some babies in). I don't even want to know what happens to the sows that don't get bought, probably on sold to breeders or worse so at least I saved my babies from a life like that. It would be nice if their were more RSPCA's here because Iv'e always bought my cat's from one but we no longer live anywhere near one. Plus there is no fresh food at this shop in the cages and they smell and the owner sold us a pen and guaranteed that our piggies wouldn't get out of it and well lets just say Patchy is lucky I have no qualm's about breaking into the neighbor's back yard (I knew the gate was broken) or she would probably not be with us now. Never did get the chew toy because I was appalled. I'm actually angry with myself that I supported this pet store by buying an animal from it even though I wouldn't be without Patchy and Coco now. Store BOYCOTTED. End of rant. I need a coffee now.

I know its shameful the so called 'standards of care' many pet shops have. Poor poor animals. At least Patchy and Coco will have a lovely life with you.

Is there any way that you could report them to some kind of animal welfare protection people I don't know what it's like in the steelier for that kind of thing

*steams pours out of ears* I hate poor sows being put through constant pregnancy. Are they forcibly impregnated? Hmmf. Still, at least we can pamper our pigs.
But poor animals...bred for money..grr.
*angry muttering*

I doubt Patchy and Coco had ever seen a vegetable before. They wouldnt do anything except nibble it and they were so picky but now they will eat anything I put in front of them even courgette now. I wish I could save all the animals but god knows what the house would look like.
