It's sooo hot here today! It's meant to be like this for quite a while. :o Squeak is in the run at the moment nibbling the grass...just wanted to check if you think she's cool enough? She's got her water bottle, a water bowl, a cardboard house (won't heat up quickly), frozen bottle of water next to the house, a towel over the top of the run for shade and a small wet cloth over the top to keep the air cool. Anything else I can do? Thanks xx

Sounds like you've got it all covered! Just make sure to move the run as the sun moves so it's always in shade and keep checking her to make sure she's not over heating.

I have a big cardboard box in the run for my piggys and they are using this to keep cool. I'm going to put a damp cloth over the top aswell

I know what it's like. My gang live in the conservatory so we've had the windows open & roof blinds drawn for past 3 days. Yesterday & today I've also had an oscillating fan on from late morning to evening. There's hardly any direct sunlight on them all day. The temp has got as high as 27'C but they all seem happy. I give them a chunk of cucumber each straight from the fridge (that's their equiv. of an ice lolly) as well as regular supplies of fresh grass. They seem to be loving it just lounging about like we would on holiday.

I can’t believe how hot it’s been my piggies have been sat indoors all day just because i was worried about them being too hot outside for them!

I’ve had the fan on in the room all day but not directly on them just trying to generate some air flow in the room as there just seems to be no breeze at all even with the windows wide open!

Hope everyones piggies are staying chilled.

I have tried to hide small ice packs under their little blanket but they know something's there. Titch was resting her head on the area so it must of felt cool. Mine take no notice of frozen bottles so I took them out.

Our piggies are indoors...far too hot outside and I'm paranoid so they make do with grass and dandelion leaves picked by their slaves.
The lounge is cool as we get the sun on there early so have had the curtains half open till dinnertime but windows and doors all open for a nice breeze :)

Hehe! I'm a bit paranoid too! Squeak is outside but she's in the shade so she's ok :)

it's actually hotter in my 'catservatory' which is where the hutches are than outside so my pigs have been in the runs all day. they have sheets completely covering their runs and have water etc in there too. in the shade of the runs it has been just nice for them. they are flat out now in their hutches after a busy day chomping on grass:)
here's Hope enjoying the grass

Glad to hear everyone's piggies are fine in this heat. We have had the fan on again with a ice bottle in front of it. It is working a treat. I am a little concerned about being at work tomorrow and not being able to have the fan on in the day but will leave front curtains closed to stop sun and put in the iced bottles again. This weather is supposed to continue all week so I heard ..

Aww, great photos, gladto hear we're all doing our bit to chill our piggies.

Today was way too hot for my 5 even with a fan, so they all got moved to the run in the kitchen with a tile floor whilst I cLeaned their cages. They all had nails clipped, a once over and a cooling bath before a gentle rub down before going into their much cooler cages with fleece removed and newly installed hay boxes so more ventilation. Big fluffy monster flossie had a hair cut as well, poor thing, as did Millie on her rear end. iPods back in the freezer ready for tomorrows hot weather, hopefully everyone's starting to cool down. I certainly am. I gave myself the same treatment as the piggies! Minus the hay box lol

Gorgeous photos Sally!

I'm going to try and put some ice packs under a fleece tommorrow to see if they will lay on this to keep cool. I will also put some cold water in a shallow bowl to see if they will drink out of this and maybe this will keep them cooler. The damping down of the cloth over the top of their run really did help and they soon came out of their cardboard box and were running around the grass.

I put a bowl of cold water in the run for squeak yesterday and she drank out of it way more than her bottle...it also kept her cool because she got it all over her chin ahaa :))

Blinds are great for keeping the sun off our fur babies...I need to get some new ones as we left the others at the flat when we moved but luckily, the room is nice and cool.
Forecast still good and believe it could hit 31 degrees by next week but bit more overcast...:)

I too worry guineapig slave so pick them dandelions.I have moved mine to a north facing room but it was still 25c in there 28c where they would have been. When you are out, you just can't help but think about them can you. Too warm in summer then worrying they are cold in winter.
