I created a post the other day called "when do you know it's time" this was centred around separating scooby and shaggy.
After trying :
More floor space
Moving the other two boars into a seperate room.
More hideys, 2 and in some cases 3 of everything.
Buddy baths
Rebonding
Good diets
Lots of love

They are still fighting. After the buddy bath they had a day of not really fighting and then this morning I was making breakfast in the kitchen. And they decided to go to battle, I heard a loud crash they were fighting in a way which is hard to describe in words, but it wasn't humping or general dominance, they'd gone past showing teeth and were kind of quickly in a tumbling embrace (fully understand why you read advice don't use bare hands to separate them).
By the time I turned the stove off and grabbed a towel they were at either end of the cages. So I put the bar dividers in and checked them both over. Scooby has a little scratch on his back and on his nose. No blood but I think that is just a stroke of luck.
I think this is because shaggy is now hitting a hormone spike whilst checking him over I noticed his boy bits had started to develop more, his button is now visible and his jelly beans are starting to look more like Scooby's in terms of development.
My plan is to keep them seperate for a few months now in the hope that the hormones will begin to level off somewhat around the ten month mark, I have read its 4-14 months, but my thought process is at ten months they are at the peak of the testosterone bell curve and should be on the decline.
If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Ah Joe, sorry :( you are really going through it with your boys. I have made a note to send Wiebke to your thread when she returns from holiday. Wiebke is a bonding expert, she is back in a few weeks... But her advice will be worth the wait.

In the meantime hopefully some boar people may be able to help if possible, but I think you have tried as much as ŷou can for now and like you said try after hormones have died down a little

Thanks for this didn't get time to message back yesterday. They seem really happy with the split which is sad in a way but also good they are happy. Got to take scooby to the vets today the cut on his nose looks like it's swollen. Hopefully it's nothing serious

What rotten luck. I don't know what the chances are of them getting back together at a later stage, but I hope for your sake that they can.

Oh, no. Just seen your thread. Such a shame. Naughty boys, don't they know what's good for them? At least with a divider in they have company but don't have to share their space, so it can be harmonious that way. So sorry that they just couldn't behave themselves for you.

Thanks all I think at this point it is the right decision as they are still showing teeth at each other through the bars. So I think its saving alot of potential injury this way. They have both perked up somewhat in terms of popcorning.
The vet checked Scooby's nose and said it was nothing to worry about.
I'm thinking longer term if they still continue to show teeth with each other through the bars, then I will have to consider options in terms of taking them on a piggie date to meet sows. However if the hormones settle down and they show signs of bonding through the divider i.e lying next to each other and chuddering and showing teeth then hopefully they can be reintroduced.
Good news- my other two boars at this point still seem very happy with each other. Elvis (underpig) will burrow under drogon (dominant) for security and warmth. Its very cute and reassuring.
