I have found some piggies....I know I am going to be shot for this, but I have got them via work... :-\ :-\

They are 9 weeks old, three boys, dark golden two of them have little crests.

They were supposed to be sold, but the little girl decided she didnt like the noise (?!)))

Anyway, so I'm bringing them home next Friday (need to get everything together) I'm so excited!

(Please dont shout at me!)

Your not gonna keep all 3 together are you?three boys together are sure to fight when they get older. sometimes pairs can end up fighting when they are older too, but 3 will for sure.

Really? I emailed their breeder and asked her and she said three boys would be better than three girls... :'(

I'm not shouting i am pleased for you! And although 3 girls would be better together, i don't agree 3 boars will definitely fight, i have had 2 trios of boars with no problems, so go for it if you want, just realise you may have to seperate them, but not for sure.

I have read many times neutering doesn't alter behaviour in guinea pigs like it does with rabbits, it just stops reproduction, so i would say no don't waste your money.

Bet you can't wait to get these little boys Kerrie :)

I agree with Scruffy that neutering them won't change their behaviour so no need to be putting them through that.

Also they could be fine living as a trio, it doesn't mean they will fight. Think there is trio info on the barmy4boars website.

From past experiece 3 boys will definately fight they are young at the moment but sooner or later they will fall out 2 is a better number and definately only keep boys in pairs, you may be lucky

No-one here is going to judge where you get your piggys from as long as they are loved and well cared for is all that matters

I have four boars living together they are all different ages.
Radley is nearly 2yrs old, Aurelio and LJ are just over a year and Laban is 9weeks old. Apart from Radley showing them whos boss there is no problems, plus they live next door to 5 beautiful ladies.
I would recommend you give them the largest space possible my guys live in a c&c 3 x 2 and there are two shelves for them to jump onto to get out the way of Radley when he is throwing his weight around, lol.
I have keep trios and pairs previously with no problems too.

EDIT: This maybe luck with myself, but with them being young they might stand a higher chance of being together. I would advice if you are to get sows in the future to keep them away because this could cause fighting.

I wouldnt be disheartened. It is true, a trio is definately tricky but you have the advantage that they are all together now and has been said, it can be done. So I would say go for it but give them as much cage space as is possible and lots of hidey places. Even if you do have to seperate later, it is not the end of the world. They can still live next to eachother and interact :)

i agree if you do try it( as others have said they have had success with more than two) then make sure they have plenty of space and lots of hidey places. I hope it works for you. But keep a close eye on them as they get older, and be prepared that you may have to buy another hutch if needed.

Hiya

Just wanted to say I am pleased for you that you have been able to find some piggies and I really hope they work out for you.

Keep us posted!

:) :)

Blimey! Lucky you indeed! I can only dream of that! You must have some special way with them, to have different ages living so succesfully together! Well done! I have had times when they have all been squeaking I have been sorely tempted to open all the doors and see what happens with all four together, aged from 5mths to 5 yrs but then I get scared!
Congratulations!
I think Maryh has four boys together too, I'm going to be 5 boys by the weekend so I think even that is pushing it!

Dazie has three young boars living together there now about 16 weeks old thier in a huge three tier hutch and are getting on fine so far. They are brothers and have never been apart ;) she also has two boars living together happily the the key to keeping boars happy living together is lots of space ;)

They will have a five foot hutch, which I have bought lots of hidey things for. In the daytime they will have access to a 5x5x5 run which is attached
