Introducing Amelia!

Amelia.jpg

She may look familiar to members who remember the big Lymington rescue in August 2010 as they all looked alike.

Amelia is thought to be around 3 years old and is the sweetest little pig.

I adopted her from the Wheek and Squeak rescue where she has been aunty to lots of sows as they've come in, she's been looking after them.

I first fell in love with her in May last year when I took Hector dating. (he's sadly now at the Rainbow bridge)

She was the first lady he met. She clearly wanted to be friends straight away but he wasn't really fussed and pretty much ignored her. I sat cuddling her and she fell asleep flat out on her side in my arms while Hector met 7 more ladies and finally settled on Matilda. I loved Matilda but was sad I couldn't take her home as well. Each time I've gone to the rescue I've had a cuddle with her and thought, one day....

The day finally came in April when I decided guests don't need to be able to sit on the armchair, I can extend the pen and they'll be room for her to join Hector, Matilda and Piglet who I've adopted from a friend after Piglet's sister died.

Sadly the day after I decided to adopt her, Hector suddenly became ill and had to be pts. I decided I needed a little time to see how the girls were without him and for me to grieve. She then got a UTI so I've been waiting for her to get the all clear.

I'm so pleased I could finally bring her home after all this time. All 'rules' of bonding went out the window, my plan was to have her along side the girls for a week then introduce them in a neutral area as I had done before but she became very withdrawn, wouldn't move or eat so after consultation with Anna we decided to go for it and I removed the divider between them. Piglet had been washing Amelia's face through the bars so welcomed her and was so cute with her. All has gone perfectly, she's been allowed to take food out of Piglet and Matilda's mouth and both haven't been bothered at all. She's won them over very quickly and has settled in perfectly.

The other pig I bought home from the rescue is Barney!

He's a very special new breed of 'super' pig. I'm also fostering two of his friends who are up for adoption.

You can meet them here.....http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=92399

Oh my goodness, she is absolutely stunning! x)x)x) Is she a sister of Wiebke's Caron?! Finley has a new love interest :))

and as for Barney - I NEED ONE! :))

She is certainly related to Caron, she looks so much like her doesn't she? What a gorgeous couple her and Finley would make! x)
Barney has two siblings available for adoption.... :(|)

Oh she is totally gorgeous! Look at her lovely hair. How wonderful you finally got to adopt her.

She really does! When Jenny came to help bond Finley to my girls she wondered whether he was from the Lymington rescue...imagine if they were his long lost sisters! :)) I don't think I would have been able to resist her either! She's stunning, as is Caron!

Amelia is stunningly beautiful. Am so pleased that she has found her forever home with you and your gang. :laluot_03:

Barney's a cutie too. x

She's stunning - and various other people have some from the same Rescue, all very much the same.

Aww Amelia is simply gorgeous :-) so glad she is happy and settling into her new home :-)

I adopted a pair of female guinea pigs in may and this is the baby one, her fur has grown now and i think she looks the same.x)

Thank you, her name is Angel. She was from a local rescue and was already called that and i think it suits her, her mum didn't have a name so we named her pickle, they are cute!

Caron is sending her best wishes to Amelia! I am sure that they are pretty closely related.

Looking at pics of Amelia means taking constant double takes! :))
It is great that Amelia has now found a happy home and has settled in well.

PS: My neighbour's granddaughter is another Amelia; she loves to come and feed the piggies when I am away!

Aw Hi Caron!
They look like twins! Amelia's impressed with Caron's lettuce control and wanted to share her parsley eating technique :))

Wow - she is beautiful x)
I have a pretty little Amelia with a diva-ish personality and lots of attitude :(|) ;)

:)) I registered her with the vets today and the receptionist said she sounded like a little princess when I said she was called Amelia and is a cream and golden coronet.
I don't think my Amelia is going to be too much of a diva but she is desperate to cuddle to one of the other girls but they're not quite ready yet, they're sleeping closer to each other which is looking promising.

WELCOME AMELIA TO YOUR LOVELY FOREVER HOME XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I just got wheeked at by Amelia for the first time and boy it was a big wheek! I think she's been saving it up. :(|)
Apparently the rattle of a packet of chocolate chip biscuits means food to her.
