Bruno was castrated on Wednesday and I want to know if Its safe to put ivermectin drops on him for mites? I’ve noticed a slight bald patch on his back and his cage mate is scratching too.
I'd ask the vet for a proper diagnosis before using ivermectin. A good vet can take a skin scrape and tell you straight away by looking down the microscope if its mites- and if it is they can prescribe a stronger treatment than you can buy without prescription. Ivermectin skin treatment could be dangerous if its licked off or gets in open surgery wounds... the piggy might get a bigger dose than the mites! And if Bruno is on other meds this could affect his ability to metabolise ivermectin too if he licks it...
