Hi All, Was just hoping for a little advice. I took in a pregnant girl from a friend of a friend a few weeks ago. She had 4 beautiful healthy babies 10days ago. While she was pregnant I had to treat her for mites as she was getting sore. Is it safe to use ivermectin now, while she is feeding her babies?
Many Thanks. From Kerry

Hi Kerry, welcome to the forum. :)

I am glad all went well with the birth of the 4 babies.

There tends to be caution over using ivermectin in pregnant sows, however I am unsure about lactating sows as the medication will be passed onto the babies - ivermectin specifically targets parasites and apparently does no harm even if no parasites are present, so in that sense it won't harm the babies, but there's still the issue of them receiving medication that may be unnecessary. I will point someone this way who is more in the know on youngsters and see what they think.
