Hello - I am a little bit confused about Ivermectin drops - I have read that they are given to piggies to prevent or treat mites... so do you give them routinely to prevent the mites (as in cats and dogs with thier spot on flea treatments) or only give if you are sure they already have the mites? If routinely then how often? Thanks!

A lot of people only treat once mites become apparent where as others, inluding myself, dose routinely. I dose all my pigs every 3 months - as I have a lot of pigs in and out of the rescue it seems sensible to me to protect them.

All newcomers get treatment as part of their quarantine. If however I had only my pets with no piggy visitors then I would probably only treat as needed, once everyone and their cages were completely clear.
