Hi guys, I'm treating my oldest boar with Xeno 450 to get rid of the lice he got recently but my sister used the rest of box for her rabbits so I'm left with a box of the Beaphar spot on treatment. My boar's a bit more than 1200g so I'd use 1,5 pipettes of Xeno (60mg Ivermectin). Reading the instructions on the box Beaphar says that I just need to use two pipettes but since each contains just 15mg of Ivermectin, I'd have to use 4 of them...Is this a safe thing to do or? 4 pipettes sounds a lot.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, if your doing it because you think guinea has mites/lice or they do have them, please take to the vets, the mods/admin on here will tell you not to treat on spec and to take your guinea(s) to the vet to have them properly looked at.

I think it's 1 per 1kg, so it would be 1 pipette, it's what we were given by the vet last year, they had one pipette, every two weeks for six weeks.

@Kerrie74 if I remember rightly the beaphar one is less strong than the Xeno 450 (there is a weaker Xeno for lighter animals that would need a larger dose) so may well need more pipettes....

I would agree though it is worth it and safer, seeing a vet and making sure you get the right dose rather than trying to work it out yourself...

I think I misread the post as well (the bit about the other treatment), my concentration isn't the best.

I did my little one with the Beaphar spot on a few days ago as I had noticed him scratching (I also use it on my rats from time to time and it has always worked and not caused problems), the instructions were 1 pipette per 750g. Scruffy is 800g and I used 1 pipette and haven't noticed him scratching since! I think 2 pipettes as per the instructions would be plenty!
