I got some Ivermectin quite a while ago from a local vet but I only realised afterwards that she'd given me the lower dose for baby pigs (Pharmaq 0.1% for cage birds).

I want to get some of the 'proper' stuff now and can't decide whether to go for the Pharmaq 0.8% (www.pharmaq.co.uk) at £24.42 or the Xeno 450 (www.vetuk.co.uk) at £16.10.

Any preferences or ideas as to whether one is better value for money than the other? Or are there any others I don't know about?

Sarah

does anyone know how these two and beapher spot on compare to each other?

I can reccomend the Xeno450 from the vets :D Your pigs need to be over 800g for this strength though. There is Xeno50 for smaller/younger pigs. How many pigs have you got? Each pig has 1 pipette each and this has to be done twice at least (once and then once again two weeks later) and if they still have mites (can't imagine they would as ours worked in under a week) then a third treatment can be used two weeks after again. If you have 3 pigs you only need one box but if you have more or less pigs it may be cheaper to get it from the vets as they can sell it to you in specific number of pipettes rather than whole box numbers :D

That sounds a lot the one I use is once every 3 months, the Cambridge cavy trust recommends it. Its just a couple of drops behind the ear. Easy :)

@Sam_Spice: Thanks for the info. I see you're in Gloucester... Just out of interest, which vet do you go to? (I live in Nailsworth and am still on the lookout for a good one)

I use Wood Vetenary Group in Quedgeley, just off junction 12 m5. I have moved into the centre of Gloucester now so their other branch in Longlevens is even closer for me :) Thier head vet Jason Burgess is one of their top rabbit vets in the country (not that I've met him yet hehe only spoke to him on the phone) but he's done all our speys :) The nurses all seem very friendly and have all treated our buns very well, and so far only one consultation fee out of the numerous times we've been which is a bonus :D

Daftly I went on about my bunnies! So far our pigs havn't been the vets (as they are all rescues and went to their vets ;) ), but their check-up is due soon and I will be taking them to Woods :D The quedgeley branch is large small-animal hospital and is fully equiped for operations etc which is great as its near to Nailsworth (i think! :red I am thinking its near Dursley? sorry if I'm thinking wrong lol )
