Ivomec/Ivermectin

I tried searching but had no luck, Jacques. Will keep looking, I know I had a link somewhere.

Do you use those drops for worming, or just for mites, Missbonbon? Jacques is looking for the sheep and cattle Ivomec fluid used for routine worming treatment.

We use Panomec for all out piggies. This can be bought on-line and isn't a prescription drug. It usually costs between £22 - £25 a bottle.
Places such as Animalmedicines.co.uk sell it.

I only use it for mites, as the instruction leaflet doesnt mention treatment for worms?

Do you worm with just Panomec, or Panacur/Valbazen and Panomec? The name sounds like a combination of Panacur and Ivomec, so wondered if there was one drug that does the complete parasitic spectrum.

I didnt even realise Ivermectin could be used for worms?
Surley Ivermectin is Ivermectin and a completely different medicine would be needed for worming.

I posted my link as the thread was a request was for Ivermectin with no mention of worms.

Jacques, hope my link has helped?

Ok Jacques, *finally* found the right stuff! I am so sorry it took so long.

The standard or the super, both are safe. The super is far cheaper here, will be going with this one myself!:

No personal experience of this site just yet, but the prices look about average. Cheaper, even, than many other sites. I have also found a cheaper alternative to the link I gave you last night about the Panacur. Fourth product down, Panacur 2.5%:

just been reading this and the other post about worms. So if you were to give the Panacur and the Ivomec for the worms would they also kill mites if they had them?

That's one thing I'm not entirely sure on, Sue! Having read various posts, I would assume that it would kill external mites as well, since oral Ivomec/Ivermectin is a suitable treatment option for mites.

There could be a problem with buying Ivomec over the internet, or indeed from an agricultural supplier. You normally have to indicate how many cattle etc you own.
Just go through the order procedure on the website and see what I mean. There is a difference between a pig and a guinea pig!

ok first it is for worming.

however i do know from experience that ivomec/ivermectin is used for extrenal mites too.

ccc4 thats for the links................the ivocmec is so dear i cant pay £52 i have only 2 piggies.... i use to pay £11 for 10mls. i do know its ivomec 1% and not 2.5% that * previuosly thought.

The Ivomec Super is much cheaper, the classic is very costly.

Where do you buy Ivomec from, AP? If it is as simple as saying how many cattle you own, it is no different to telling a chemist that the medicines you are buying (for guinea pigs) are for children.

CCC4
A friendly farmer. The last time I tried to buy it from an agricultural supply merchant they wanted proof of cattle ownership etc. so I now get it elsewhere. I must try the ag. merchants when this bottle is finished.

I think that is the link I had lost, thanks.

Jacques, thanks for pointing out the concentration. I was sure all my sources said 2.5% - was obviously thinking of the Panacur and Valbazen still - but actually none of them specified the percentage. I am sorry for my mistake, I will edit it in my other posts now.

I am getting confused by the Ivomec for worming and Ivomec for mites. I am not one hundred percent sure if they are one and the same, or if there are slight differences. I am inclined to think they are the same but don't want to advise on those advertised for mites until I am sure.

To clear it up once and for all in my mind, can Ivomec be given orally to treat both internal and external parasites? What about the products that are not the cattle/sheep injection fluid - such as the one in the link above - can these be given orally for worming purposes?

I know where I am with the Panacur but it's taking me a while to straighten out my thoughts on the Ivomec/Ivermectin.

I've used that, it is a good price, but wouldn't give it orally as the tubes are tiny and the dose isn't that clear. That particular product is good for treating topically (drops on the back of the neck) for mites.
