So I was spot cleaning the cage today, i put on my rubber med gloves so i would be able to get the soiled bedding out of the corners, and of course izzy comes out of his house to see what i'm doing, he walks right up to my hand as i'm about to pick up another handful of wet bedding, so i extend my point finger to him thinking he'll just smell it....instead he bites it and starts playing tug of war with it! It was so cute i stopped cleaning and started to just play with him, but as my husband reminded me, he can't have rubber, so i had to stop or risk him tearing it apart and running away with a chunk to chew on. So what I'm wondering is if anyone has an idea of a stretchy toy i could use that's like rubber that he can have for us to play together, and is safe.

Piggies unfortunately like to chew anything they shouldn't :)) They always try to bite gloves if I am wearing them too.

Megan Moo Cow when she is being cleaned out will hang around by me and nibble the kitchen roll if I am not careful, if only the would do this with courgettes lol.

Wooden toys are safest bet for piggies

Aw bless her :P. Haven loves the dustpan and brush...she goes mad for it. She is always wanting to chew the brush hehe.

Some piggies are plastic addicts! They love anything you don't want them to...

I thought about it some more and I was thinking maybe a rubber band cut in half will work, but I need to find out if this rubber is toxic, I know medical grade is safe, but rubber bands aren't regulated for toxicity....where might I look up whether it's safe or not?

I wouldn't risk it - if he bites some of it off it could cause a blockage. x

The rubber used for rubber bands is manufactured in a slightly different way, they will likey use a proportion of regrind powder material because it's cheaper, products made for the medical industry is different because of material and process. You would be surprised what the contents are....definately stay away from piggies chewing rubber or plastic.
