So after the passing of my lovely Nutmeg things were far too quiet in piggy world - consisting now of Baby and Bramble who are both rather quiet little ladies.

So I was on the lookout for another friend when I spotted Jaffacake (renamed) on Gumtree, a one year old who needed rehoming due to her young owner loosing interest as is so often the case. When I went to visit her and found that she lived on her own with just a boar that she couldn't see from her small hutch for company I knew I had to try and see if she would fit in with my little herd.

I've taken it slowly over three or so weeks and finally on Tuesday they all became a single herd in a revamped cage now complete with dedicated private sleeping quarters and hay loft! I am so thrilled they all get on well (just a bit of chasing) and are absolutely loving the hay loft. I'm finding the cleanliness of the cage much better by separating the hay from the fleece. Jaffacake in particular I don't think has ever been fed hay and since I've had her has been gorging on the stuff! She is also very fussy about her veg and doesn't like cucumber which has really surprised me.

Anyhoo here are some photos...

Jaffa prior to joining the herd in the big cage:

One of the introduction sessions, Jaffa is embracing the discovery of grass:

Prior to going in the new cage everyone had a bath as everyone had little travellers, Baby is very unimpressed with my behaviour:

The new cage, bit hard to tell what'g going on as it's SO pink but there is a sleeping area on the left which is divided down the middle by dangling fleecy bits as Baby in particular is very defensive about her favourite sleeping areas. Hay loft on the right. Not much toys/accessories in this photo but they have more now:

Bramble has not experienced ramps in her life yet so was unsure for the first couple of days:

Gorgeous piggys, well done for taking Jaffa in, I love a happy ending.
Where did you find your hay box? I've been looking for a box that size for months!

I found it at Dunelm if you have one neraby? The sleeping area is made out of the same box too because I wanted to extend the cage another square but without having to buy the correx again to remake it.

I had to (read: my Father had to!) cut off the lip of the box on the two shorter sides to make it fit, but now fits absolutely perfectly. He kindly also cut me some lovely doors in the side - easier if you have the correct tools as he does. Two doors in each so that chasing doesn't turn nasty. In fact I witnessed Jaffacake chase Bramble into the sleeping area yesterday and when they ran back out it was Bramble chasing Jaffa :P it was like a sketch.

I've just checked the label it's a "42L large underbed storage box", I'm sure they must still be on the website as I only bought them about 4 weeks ago. £5.99 each.

Thank you for that, will look on line as we don't have a Dunelm near us. I have a box like that in the loft of my other cage but it's slightly wider than the C&C, I found that one in The Range.

Awww bless! Congratulations! Absolutely gorgeous

I love your set up too!
