Hi

I want to keep updating about Jasmine incase it helps anyone else.

So, 4 weeks after diagnosis Jasmine is doing well in my opinion. No weight loss, eating well, running about, wheeking and warbling, playing with her sister and generally being a normal piggie.

This evening she had her third steroid injection. The primary lump is no smaller but no bigger which is good. The other lumps are slightly smaller which is extra good. The vet hasn't seen many pigs with lymphoma and Jasmine is the first he has treated with steriods. How long the steroids work for depends on how aggressive her lymphoma is and given her current progress he is cautiously optimistic. He said in his opinion she is a happy little piggie albeit a little lumpy here and there. He reiterated that none of the lumps are painful or bothering her. So we are back in two weeks for another injection and check up.

Thanks

Thanks. Jasmine is doing really well bless her. I am so sad she is going to have a short life, she is such a beautiful little girl. Anyway, at the moment she is getting very spoiled with extra veggies, extra treats and extra cuddles.

It is so sad. It must be heartbreaking for you. I think you are being so strong.

It is sad but I hope the vet will learn something from treating her that will help other piggies maybe. Although I think the cost of the steroid injections might put some people off trying them, I am paying £14.40 each time which is fine for me but maybe not for people less able to pay.

It is difficult to find the money. I think vets charge far too much. It is lucky you are able to care for Jasmine.

It is shame you can't insure piggies. Both of my cats are insured and in Mya's case it was invaluable as she developed epilepsy at 6 months and got the best treatment available. Now she is nearly 12 and hasn't had a fit for over 7 years.

I didn't realise you could. Mind you it quoted me £10.60 a month with a £50 excess so no good for Jasmine as her injections only cost me £14.40 every two weeks. I never thought of piggies as exotic pets either.
