Little Jasper came into my life about 2 months ago, I found him in a terrible state, abandoned sitting in the rain and starving to death.

I brought him home not intending to keep him but as no charities could take him in a we failed to find his owner we decided to give him a forever home.

Jasper was very old, extremely underweight, covered in fleas and had lost a lot of fur when we found him. With a little bit of TLC he came on leaps and bounds and was such an affectionate little cat. He was like my shadow and followed me everywhere.

A couple of days ago he stopped eating and went downhill so fast. We took him to the cat clinic today who said he had renal failure and didn't have long left so we decided that the kindest thing would be to put him to sleep. The people at the cat clinic were so lovely and didn't charge us a penny as they said we were nice people for taking him on.

The vet confirmed that he would have been about 16 so he had a good innings and I'm just glad that his last days were spent in a loving home rather than cold and lonely.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
Jasper will always watch over you for giving him the last 2 months of his life a warm home and knowing what it was to be loved again and that is something that will always be special to you and jasper as not many people would of taken on a golden oldie.

Thanks for all your kind words, I cant believe how attached I got to him in such a short time.

He is the first cat we have ever owned and has changed my opinion on cats completely I always thought they were selfish animals but now I know differently and I really think Jasper loved us.

My partner has said he would like another cat in the new year maybe, but if we get another it will be a rescue cat and be a bit older as I know it is hard to re-home older animals.
