I recently just got 3 little rat boys and my little piggy ava has a whole new attitude now. She like absolutely hates me know lol. She used to like coming out for couch time and now she just nips me until she goes back in her cage. She doesn't want me to hand her treats now but rather me lay them down in front of her just so she doesn't have to deal with me. She still squeals for hay and veggies and still healthy just a lot moodier lol. Has anyone else got a moody pig after getting a new furbaby? Lol
 
Is she an only piggie? Can you get her a piggie friend. Might not like the scent of the rats on your hand more than it being about you. Try washing and changing clothes bt handling the rats and Ava
 
No I have 2 other piggies too. I always wash my hands between handling animals especially switching between species. But even earlier today it was piggy nail trimming day and I was handing my pigs first thing in the morning (pretty much) and had them all out for floor time (I fenced off an area in the living room where the rats never been 【I won't let them on the floor because of their climbing and jumping. I just simply don't think I can handle all 3 in a fenced in area]) and she was nipping at me almost the whole time (unless she was eating hay or some veggie snacks )
 
Also I'm a night shower and I don't handle any of the animals after my shower or when I'm in my pajamas in general.
 
Ava is my middle pig. She was even acting like that after I got my youngest piggy ellie but she got over it for the most part (they don't quite see eye to eye but nothing serious just some purring and little spats over food). Ava is definitely the queen
 
I wonder if she can smell the new guys on your clothes or something in spite of hand-washing? My pigs are pretty chill, but we also have hamsters... we recently lost a hamster and brought a new baby hamster home and our other hamster has been sniffing my clothes very suspiciously... I think she's aware that there is another hamster who is not the hamster that was there previously because she seems to be onto something!
 
I mean maybe. They're in the same room (opposite sides of the room so she's well aware the boys are there. I have hamsters, gerbils and mice as well and but she only got that way when we got ellie (my youngest pig) and now the boys. But ava was the princess. She did like everything with me for the longest time. Not literally but she'd help me get their veggies ready, had couch time the most (my oldest pig is very shy and timid so I don't like getting her out as much) like I'd spend most of my day with her lol
 
Rats can scent mark by dribbling little bits of urine. They do it to give lots of information like where they've been, and if they ate food that didn't make them sick. If you had the rats on you, I bet they have scent marked you and the piggies can smell it. Maybe change out your sweatshirt to play with the piggies?
