So I decided to keep a weekly journal of Jeddy's size and weight! I started yesterday, I'll be doing it every Sunday after the cage clean! I have the most time on Sundays so it seemed to make sense that I do all the guinea pig stuff at once.

She's getting so big now!

She's 17cm long and 9cm tall (roughly) and she weighs 505g exactly! :<>

She's just over 3 months old now and getting lovely and round, so I'm glad I decided to start the journal for her. It'll help me keep track, since I think she's slightly smaller than average, possibly a runt of the litter. When she reaches six months, I'll take all the readings from that month and come up with her "average" weight as a grown up guinea pig. :(|)

She is lovely, she's just getting big enough to properly snuggle when she climbs up to my neck. X3 And she's recently gotten into the habit of licking and gently nibbling the tip of my nose, it's wonderful. XD

My sister was scared of her when she was tiny but she's not any more, which is great because now Jed gets more cuddles while I'm at work. I think it's because she was worried she'd hurt her if she picked her up even slightly too roughly. :3

Great stuff! I've been keeping piggies for years but never been in the habit of weighing them unless poorly. So when I got Tyler, fuzzys new friend I thought I'd do this and Tyler weighs 600g and he's just 3 months and fuzzy is nearly 2 and he weighs 1.6kg lol

lol Yeah, I was reading up that it's a good idea in case they get ill, because you'll be able to monitor more carefully and compare it to their normal weight. I waited until Jeddy was old enough not to make a huge fuss though.

I'm also making notes in the journal of her nail condition, so that I know when the last time I clipped them was. Well... The last time mum clipped them and I pouted as I tried to hold Jeddy still and she made tiny frightened squeeks. XD I'm such a wuss. lol

Yup! A runt should apparently weigh around 600g at the 6 month stage, compared to 800g for any other guinea. XD But I think it also depends on the actual size of the piggy because some are much larger than others! Which is why I decided to measure Jed as well. lol

I wouldnt worry about claws just yet (unless they have a growth spurt) I checked tylers at the weekend and there's not a lot to trim yet lol

I've been keeping an eye on them, mum had to do them before she went on holiday, just to give them a very tiny trim, it was starting to hurt us when she wriggled if you picked her up. Since then she's been a lot more active and they're keeping more trim. Especially when she spent nearly the whole weekend in the garden with us. (Our garden is paved so the running around on patioed flooring seems to have filed her claws a bit. She has a patch of grass which she thoroughly enjoyed but I think the paving still helped a lot. XD)
