my 6 month old boar skinny pig Jeremy seems very unsettled, he is eating and drinking normally but can be fidgety and seems a bit less content than usual. Could this be because he is a full male ( who lives near females)? I plan on having him neutered soon. Or is he ill? I can't think of any particular symptoms of an obvious illness but I am quite concerned as something doesn't seem right

Could one or more of your sows be in season? It will have an unsettling effect on him. May be more restless and lose his appetite a bit.
Could you move him further away from the sows?
When hes 6 weeks postop from his neutering is he going to join the girls?
My boars have never been happier now they both have wives!

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is possible that one of my girls is in season ( I have 3). It's not really possible to move him cos they all live in my bedroom , and I have 6 in all. But after I have him and my other boar neutered I may introduce them to the girls , separately ( as the boys don't get on ). However, he seems most unsettled when he is just downstairs with me , away from all the other pigs.( although he does still sleep on my shoulder).Confusing!

Jeremy has a vets appointment Friday, just for a general check up and hopefully I'll be able to get him neutered soon after. See How this changes things
