Ok i'll give her a few days then try and weigh her - tbh i dont want to pick her up cos i'm a big wimp and scared i'll hurt her lol

Really hope she's just fat but the more i look at the pics the more she looks pregnant.

Thanks for all the info, even if she isn't going to have pups i would rather be prepared just incase.

Bless you...!
I scoop preggos up... Hand either side... Or one hand... Like all four fingers under her bottom and the other hand supporting the front...
Nothing wrong with being prepared... ;)
Good luck...!
And I look forward to an update...!
x

Afternoon :)

Jessie-belle as i seem to be calling her at the moment - didn't do too bad last night - she's not eaten any of the pellets in the bowl (which worries me as they have the vitc on) and shes not drunk anything in the night but she has eaten alot of the hay which is better than nothing. I've given her a small amount of carrot and romaine lettuce this morning which i have soaked in water so at least she's had some fluids from that.

She's also been spoilt to 2 cuddles today and i managed to get some much better pics of her where she has been sprawled out - i've never been so petrified to hold a guinea in all my life lol

Just to add my little Jessie was purring when i was stroking her - so at least i know she does like been made a fuss of after-all lol

Just a quick question on nipples too - i'm only used to seeing a boars nipples and they are rather short where as Jessies are rather long - not sure if that is due to the different genders or if it could be relevant for anything else. Tried to get a pic but it probably wont be clear.

I reckon from these pics she's just been over fed - or at least thats what I'm hoping x

Looks very much like the shape of my sows, and the nipples are the same too, they are definatley not pregnant, just well fed as people put it.rolleyes

She doesn't look obviously pregnant...
Larger nipples can be a sign of pregnancy...
Just keep an eye on her for a few weeks... Only time will tell...
Bless her... She is gorgeous though...!
x

Phew! Just to be on the safe side i shall keep treating her as though she is pregnant for the next 2 weeks we'll know for certain then especially as it was the pet shop mentioned pregnancy (makes me wonder if she had been with a male as a mistake on their part?)

She seems happy and at least she's not in a tiny cage with idiots popping random guineas and rabbits in with her!

wow least she is safe now well fingers crossed for you and little one that all is ok.

Ahhh she will be spoilt rotten! And if in 2 weeks there is no sign of pregnancy she will begin with some good exercise out on the patio or in the hallway - weather and boars permitting lol And then i will have to start thinking of a friend for her - i'd get one of my single boars neutered but i couldn't bare the chance of losing them so will have to see what happens -No more pet shop piggies though i refuse to go near any type of pet shop now and will be buying products online to stop me wanting to hit ignorant people! lol

Hey everyone. Hope everyone is well.

Just wanted to keep this thread updated about my little Jessie-belle.

She's settled in very quickly, popcorning whenever she's on my lap, taking veggies from my hand and chatting away to me very quietly - i dont think she's found her wheek yet!

She's also met one of my boars (THROUGH BARS!) she was very interested in him but he didn't find her that interesting {:| (i was considering having him neautered but don't think i can do it)

I found Jessie had a sore where her grease gland should be - i've been cleaning it twice a day and it seems to be improving - it doesn't look like mites or a fungal infection, i'll be keeping an eye on it and if it gets worse i will pop her to the vets.

As for pregnancy - it does seem likely :(

I've spoken to the store i got her from and she was taken there with her brother and the store seperated them. I have no idea how long she will have been with her brother.

As you can see from the pics she's getting rather plump and pear shaped especially on one side.

She is an absolute darling - i'd have been heartbroken if i had left her there 8...

Will update every few days so you can see how my girl is getting on. x

Finally got to weigh Jessie today after buying some new scales. She is 816g! We can now also feel 3 very obvious balls in her tummy that feel maybe an 1nch long.

Jessie is currently on wood shavings but tomorrow she will be moved over to fleece seen as she enjoys her cozy so much!

She is doing really well with her veg it has been increased today and were introducing a small amount of new veg everyday. She absolutely adores cabbage and pepper!

She's becoming increasingly more confident and is often seen either drinking (lots) or pop corning! She's happy to lie still and vibrate whilst having a fuss.

All in all she's a very happy, content and sweet natured little girl.

Here's some pics from the last few days - Enjoy :)

Awww bless! How old is your bella? Is she coping well with everything? Jessie panics me the way she pop corns round - you wouldn't catch me doing that whilst i was pregnant LOL

And we have....................

KICKING BABIES!

Wooohoooo! - Jessie seems to have ballooned over night and as i was stroking her this morning we kept feeling popping in her belly! Such an amazing thing to feel. All were hoping for now is a very quick and safe delivery with a healthy mum and pups!

Here's some pics from the past few days the last pic being from this morning with her huge bulge!

She is such gorgeous piggie - and I'm sure her babies will be even more beautiful! xoxo

Hope everything goes smoothly with the pregnancy.

Thanks hon! We have everything crossed that both mum and pups will be fine!

aww very exciting and well done you for taking her home, only just seen this thread, cant wait to see her babies, good luck

I'm f'ing furious!

I've been in touch with the store i got Jessie from asking them to take "some" responsibilty for Jessie's pregnancy either in a form of food or vet costs.

Oh no! Instead they want me to wean the babies at 7-8 WEEKS! Not 3 weeks! And then sell them to the pet store? ARE THEY FOR F'ING REAL??

I'm so peeved! That is absolutely disgusting!

ALL PET SHOPS THAT SELL ANIMALS SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN! pow-pow

WHAAAAAT!! What a bunch of idiots! How dare they say that?

Clearly, they are more interested in making money than caring for their animals.....disgusting:)>>>

Exactly!

I will be spending the evening writing the most stuck up email i can about how wrong they are!

They also offered me a refund/exchange for Jessie - i've just got her out that f'ing place she ain't going back to be used as a breeding machine!

Well after a few doubts of pregnancy due to Jessie's weight stabalizing - she's started gaining weight again and lets just say it shows @) :

Not updated for awhile so thought i'd update with lots of pics!

We took Jessie to the vets last week for a check over, vet has confirmed pregnancy but said she wouldn't like to estimate dates as she would more than likely have them wrong - she did however say she appears to be over 6 weeks.

Jessie hates having her belly touched in anyway and will kick or bite so i'm now banned from that, i keep having the odd feel whilst she's busy nomming on veg but she wont let me feel long enough to feel any kicks.

We've had Jessie for 44 days now - in that time she has put on 247g!

Her begining weight was 816g todays weight is 1063g!

Here's some pics from the past few weeks.
