I'm only a kid so I sometimes have to make my own toys since I am the sole supporter of my guinea pig. I drilled holes in some of his wood chews and tied them with some all natural, fully edible, twine. I also added a jingle bell on the end. Eventually, as I knew this would happen, he broke the twine and it all fell apart. LOL, I think he actually decided the twine would be a yummy snack and ate it all.
ANYWAYS, he picked up the jingle bell and just threw it! He loves to shake it, carry it to and from his bed, and of course just nudge it around. So, if you are running tight on some funds, you can go to your local sewing store and pick up jingle bells for an exciting piggie toy. Make sure you get really sturdy (not chew-apart-able so he can't get to the little ball inside) and large (no choking wanted) ones. Mine is about as big as his head so I'm talkin' BIG ones. A pack of like 6 of them is only $5 at my sewing store and I just had some lying around anyways. Just thought I'd let you guys know about my toy discovery.
Not sure if people have already done this or not.
