I have just heard that John is retiring soon.

I am absolutely gutted & don't think I would have got my new boys had I known that!

Don't think I can stomach local vets again why does no one care about guinea pigs!

I could cry :no:
 
It is awful when you lose a vet :( hope you can find another who is in the same league... X

I honestly feel abit sick about it! I had such bad experiences with my local vets the thought of going back to all that makes me want to cry. Its a huge loss he is an amazing exotic vet people travel miles to see him!
 
... and you also now will drive miles for not feeling sick with bad vets!:sly:
Imagine me: I lost the excellent nephrologist of my daughter just after her last surgery (he died!); there was another good doctor, but I saw a lot of differences... Luckily my daughter recovered and stopped needing check-ups...
If I were you, I wouldn't waste my money (and my nerves) in doctors/vets I don't trust of only because they are nearby... I think a bad doctor doesn't deserve our money. Here in Italy there is a quote dedicated to those ones who are not able to do their job, but do it as well: "you had better take a spade and hoe the ground!" :D

Have you asked him who's going to replace him or if he can recommend another vet?

I'm
Going to give them a call, there is a lady there who works with who I saw a couple
Of times with Billy but it doesn't look like she's permanent staff... I'm
Going to try find out :help:
