Has anyone ever used Johnsons insecticidal spray and shampoo? is it any good?
Thanks Heidi x

Ive used the shampoo on my pigs and it worked fine for me. Also it smells nice too. :)

It does have a best before date though and mine must have been old stock as it only lasted about 2 months. :( So since then i use hibiscrub as advised by my vet, i got mine from boots for free using my advantage card points, as it was cheaper than the vets. :)

But i would use it again. :))

Did it get rid of all the nasty little bugs? I have to bath 15 piggys and then I was gonig to use the spray. I hope it works as the vets alternative is really expensive.

Luckily they didnt have any lice, but they did have suspected mites and it worked but i did also treat them with the xeno spot on.

I shouldn't see why it wont work as if its designed to get rid of lice so it should! You could also try gorgeous guinea lice n easy shampoo, but you can only get that online.

:)

I use the shampoo regularly, especially for new arrivals as it cleans them up as well as treating their little visitors. If the infestation is bad I repeat at 7 day intervals for a month, then every couple of months to prevent them coming back. It says not to use before 12 weeks old, I always shampoo twice and give a thorough final rinse. Once you get a routine going it only takes 5 minites per pig.

I haven't used the spray as I don't like the thought of them or me breathing it in.

So do you think i would just need to use the shampoo? I have a mum and babies at 9 days old and I have to take them to the vet to have spot on,For the 3 its £40 so I can imagine how much my other 15 would cost. I really hope the shampoo works, My piggys have running lice,Does the shampoo kill them?

Thanks everyone, I shall start bathing first thing tomorrow :))
Do piggys catch lice from hay? and if I use the shampoo on a regular basis would it prevent them cataching it again? Sorry to ask so many questions but ive never had this problem before.

I have read that they can catch lice from hay, but the lice maybe visible on the hay but you may not see the eggs in the hay. What hay do you use?

x

I get it from my local farm as the pet shop hay is very expensive, I hope they dont get re-infested as I bathed all 15 yesterday and did the hutch too. I also used the spray on them so I hope that kills anything their carrying! :)
