Does anyone have any experience with the jr farm products from zooplus? I'm thinking of trying their hay and nuggets but not been able to find much on here in way of reviews
Just wanted to update following my zooplus delivery.
The meadow hay is fab; really green, fresh and fragrant with no dust and a nice mix of stalk, leaf and heads. I have never seen my boys react to hay in such an enthusiastic mannor - they even chose it over fresh veg!
I've yet to see them try the pellets (which are mixed in with their previous pellets) as the hay is far too distracting for them to notice much else!
I have just bought some of these nuggets to try. All my piggies (11 of them) loved them (just offered them one each as a treat before I do a proper switch over). They usually have Science Selective. None of them had problems with the size or shape of the nuggets - even the babies who just nibbled them until they were gone. They smell lovely. Hope that helps?
Is it the mountain meadow hay that you have bought ?
I have looked at this as you get a bigger bale than hay for pets for exactly the same money but curious as to what it is like

Yes that's it and the boys still go wild for it I've only had this one bag so I'm not sure how much variation can be expected between batches etc
With the pellets I've just got the regular ones with extra peppers, I like the look of the grain free pellets but can't avoid the extra expense at the moment. My boys never eat many pellets anyway, they mainly stick to the hay and fresh stuff
Very interesting. I might try that hay too. Is it really cheaper than hay for pets big 9kg bags @rosie and bramble ?
I've recently bought a bag of the grain free JR Farm nuggets to try. They smell very fruity. I've been mixing them with their old nuggets (Burgess excel ones with mint) - our pair of boars seem to like them well enough but both girls groups don't seem that fussed. Interesting what @theoretikos said about crumbs because I haven't found that with the grain free JR farms ones BUT:
I also bought the Vitacraft emotion grain free ones. Again I've mixed them with the nuggets they are used to. These ones make a huge mess of crumbs on the fleece. Which is a shame because overall I think I prefer them and I've cracked our pair of girls already - tonight as an experiment I just put the Vitacraft ones in first and waited to see what happened. Biscuit and Crumble wolfed them down straight away! That was good fun to watch but so was the disgust of the group of 4 girls as they each went round each of the four bowls, stuck their noses in and then moved on without even trying to eat them! The the excitement and wheeking when the old nuggets were added! But I know they are eating the Vitacraft ones because of the huge mess and lots of half eaten nuggets everywhere!
Mine don't really eat the jr farm pepper nuggets, they pick out the old pets at home nuggets and leave most of the rest! I don't know if this is due to taste or because the jr nuggets are bigger and harder and so harder to eat. Either way I'm not buying more till it's all gone, if they choose not to eat it they have plenty of hay and veg and unlimited nuggets available if they choose
@PiggySmitten I'm sorry I've not responded sooner but I didn't get a notification that you had tagged me.
Yes the jr farm hay is 12kg were as Hay for Pets is only 9.5kg and the jr farm is only £14:90 I think it is at the minute
I tried the jr farm meadow hay but my herd didn't really eat it! Luckily I've just fostered 2 girls who have never had hay before so they were more than happy to eat it!
I've ordered the jr farm meadow hay and the vilmie mountain hay, as well as hay for pet sings, Timothy and rye and dust free hay company. Will see what they all like best I think
We use the JF Farm grain free piggie nuggets and they are great. It did take my boys a wee while to take to them though. The first few days they would eat their burgess and leave the JF farm, but they soon started munching it all! The pellets are a great size for hand feeding to help tame and gain trust too which is awesome. I also like that they are quite big so need to be chewed which of course helps with their teeth. My pair go through 1 of the small bags every 2 months, but they do get a little bit less pellets than reccomended as they are prone to bladder sludge
