Hi Everyone,
As promised here are some photos of my beautiful adpoted Becklen girls now called Willow (himie) and Shirley.
The photos are taken inside a Cabrio catit carrier and i think it's fabulous because it's a top opener and there is also a huge window for them to look out of. They looked so cute peaking out of the window, but I couldn't get my camera quick enough. It's a really decent size carrier for when they are full grown, it can be fastened to seat belt straps and also has a great shoulder strap for extra stabilty when carrying, so that the piggies aren't swinging about. It's great for popping them in when I'm tidying as they seemed a bit insecure in the run - despite having spent their first day in there because Pet Planet sent me a cage with missing parts :{
Photos below of my set up
I've got them on vet bed in their sleeping quarters with a puppy pad underneath and the main compartment they are on fleece with a washable inco pad underneath. I've also got the all in one fleece pads from Joanne on Ebay. Although the fleece gets a bit messed up with hay I much prefer the fleece to traditional litters. I bought a good, stiff hand brush today and the hay comes off easily with it. So far I've changed the fleeces every second day, but realistically they could easily last a 3rd.
They are enjoying their food, although I've yet to see them drinking water from the bottles. However, when I wash their veg I don't shake the water off and seeing as there are plenty of wee spots I presume they must be getting their requirements from their veggies. On the first night Willow took some water from a syringe, but wasn't keen and Shirley wouldn't take any. I've read about the occurence of bladder stones if they are drinking enough liquid so I would like to see them drinking from a bottle too - has anyone any tips to encourage them to drink more. I've got one bottle attached near their veggie dish and one attached to the hay so they must have seen them.
Anyway sorry about the mega long post
Jude
