first of all, SORRY! ;D cos i know i have asked this on another post somewhere, but have been away and can't find it now. 98)
just wondering, cos i saw somewhere that someones piggies liked carrot juice. how do you feed it? and do you just use a juicer and carrots etc like? sorry. :)

i once made cranberry juice, i blitzed up cranberries in a mini blender and added a little water to help it blend then poured into their bottle..although stupid me didnt put it through a sieve first so all the seeds got stuck in the drinking funnel :D

i never saw them attempt it lol all that effort for nothing..but the drinky bit was blocked so i chucked it away lol

Hiya,

I buy the carrot juice from P @ H and add water, they love it! :) I would prefer to blend the carrots up! I find this helpful in giving the boys Vit C as they aren't keen on carrots unless they are grated!

ok, what does the carrot juice look like in p@h? and where is it? i think i mmight use carrots and juice stuff my self, worth a go, then at least i know definitely whats in them. :)

you can get some organic ones at holland and barratt, i dont think they have anything added to them..but they are of the expensive side if i remeber rightly..

Hiya,

Oh I know, my boys don't like carrots and I give the juice about twice a week. It's in the food and treats section in P @H.

I juice every morning and as Spice has had a grotty time recently,I thought I"d give him some.He had carrot, celery, apple and beetroot and drank it through a syringe.Fresh juice is great and puts carton juice to shame really. Its a great idea I think, especially to get some extra vitamins in them.

yeah, i thought it would be good for them, have just cleaned the juicer out (hehe.. been hidden away for years) ::) so will try them with some later. let you know, oh and by the way, i will sieve it so it doesn't clog up the bottle spout. ;D :)

I don't see the point in feeding them juice - there is next to no fibre. Carrots are not the best nor the only veggies to contain vitamin C. Mine rarely get carrots.

I have never given mine juice but if it gets hot again ::) then I may do...

Just a note on cranberry juice if your pig has a bladder stone this like in humans can help against them.

Do you mean cystitis/bladder infections? Cranberry juice has antibacterial properties (it acidifies the urine) that can help soothe the effects of an infection (but not cure it). It must, however, be 100% pure cranberry juice - no added sugar, sweetener or water.

When I got the girls from the rescue, the lady said that she gives cranberry juice once a week in a separate bottle,as I never read that anyone on here was giving it I never bothered, does anyone think I should offer it to the girls

Hi Katie,

I heard it was something to do with kidney problems. Mine won't eat them anyway. Thats why I was giving them carrot juice but now they won't drink that as they get water from the veggies they do like! Crazy boys!

I think I'm suffering with Info overload as I sometimes think where did I hear that from!...lol

I wouldn't say so. That's fine really. I was giving every day but now I just give for a treat. I take it as everything in moderation just like us, too much choccies are bad for us! Boooo :-)
