bought my two in the house in a run when they got put in they started jumping about and sqreaking . does any one know what kind of behaviour this is . plus freddie does a high pitch squeal if he is on my lap and basil comes and cuddles up to him he lets of a high pitch squeal and bites at him . but they sleep together in pen i notice when in run freddie was following basil with his nose up his back side why do they do that ? if i stroke fred on nose he nudges his head in air like head butting only does it to me my daughter does it he is fine i do it and keeps throwing his head back

Our guineas nudge our hands when stroking all the time. They are basically telling you to stop doing that. Our little girl is forever doing it. She hates her head being stroked so she will nudge my hand away quite forceably. Its basically a no no - she doesn't like the attention right now. Maybe you're stroking his nose with a bit too much force? My eldest boy doesn't mind his nose being stroked but you have to do it really lightly. They especially don't like they're eyes being covered and will nudge you then. In a nutshell they're telling you to please stop doing that. Give it time and they may stop doing it
Also don't be too alarmed by the jumping and squeaking. As far as I know its a sign of absolute joy. Its called popcorning and most guineas do it. My two girls used to do it all the time when they were babies.
As for the squeaking on lap thing...that I'm not too sure about so maybe someone else may be able to enlighten us both on that.
The sniffing thing I believe is a sign of dominance. I could be wrong there as well and if I am someone will correct me but I'm fairly certain its just show-boating and weighing each other up for dominance. Don't be too concerned by it, if they weren't going to get on you would know about it by now...trust me:)

Freddie sounds a bit panicky and put-upon when on your lap, so do take it slowly. Some piggies are not naturally cuddly and take patience to turn round. Talk to him a lot instead of taking him out, and never for too long.

freddie being doing his high pitch squeal again went out to pen to get them never ran away like use to just let me pick them up but when went to pick freddie up started with his high pitch squeal but once on my chest was ok ? :{:(

Minty does the squeal thing - he's my most nervous piggy when it comes to being picked up. I have a feeling he may have been dropped once before I got him so he's not secure with the whole thing. Once we're settled though, he's fine and likes a good explore. Like the others said, time and patience should win him round once he's realised he's going to come to no harm.

The jumping thing definitely sounds like popcorning to me! Ben and Dave do it all the time when they go in the run because they enjoy it sooooo much! 3lb pigs leaping about all over the place can be noisy!:))
