didnt really know where to put this.. but just wondering if any one has pigs that can jump really high? not like popcorning or anything.
As i was under the impression that they couldnt jump very high, but today mine tried to jumped out of a C&C run thing id built for the garden. lucky she was still scrabbling over the top when i caught her. i would have thought it was too high to jump over (its well over 30cm high!), particularly if pigs are actually kept in C&C cages.

any one else experianced a pig that can do the high jump?

My piggie Rusty used to love jumping up the garden steps and they were quite high.

My Radley can jump 1 foot over a C&C I've had a couple of fosters who could too. If in the garden with Grids I put a mesh over the top you can get it from Wilkinsons/B&Q etc its made of fabric and I pin it down with pegs. As well as escaping pigs you have to be careful with predators from above. :)

My Minx was a natural born jumper. I've had her in the vegetable rack, in flower pots, upstairs (how does it sound when you mention you had to "guinea pig-proof your stairs"? And Minx started pulling that trick 10 days before she was having babies!). Basically anything she could put her front feet on at full stretch - about one foot, I guess.

At the vets, she once caused quite a stir when she sat on top of her hut and stared down several cats cowering in their travel boxes. I put a platform in the cage where she had to jump up to in order to get her food (ca. 8" high). And I put up little hurdles for her to jump over (couple of parceltape rolls with a bit of wood over).

I hope you have as much fun with your pig as I had with Minx, who truly lived up to her name and kept me on my toes with her inventiveness!

well when i clean my piggies out i put them in stacking boxes (boxes what you would put childrens toys in etc) with out lids on and my 4 boys who live togther i put 2 in one box and 2 in the other box and there jump in to each others boxes well oscor and archie do anyways sammy used to but the last few weeks he hasnt been able to do it as he getting a bit bigger he cant seem to get his tummy and bum over. ruben can jumo but he one dose somtimes. my mum has to supervier them whileme and dad clean cages out

but there woodon houses for thier runs outside and there can run and jump on and off them with no problems it is just my boys what mainly jump the girls too lazy for that

I didn't believe they could jump out of a bath until I saw it for myself. They can easily run upstairs, without stopping.

My Poppet can get herself out of just about anything. She manages to climb up the sides of things until she can grap the top and then very easily springs herself over! When the house is quiet I leave her cage open and she jumps in and out as she pleases, but her cagemate hasn't got a clue how to get out, and looks most put out that Pops is dashing around the lounge, while she can only stand and watch.

2 of my boys are completely fearless! :{ They don't tend to jump over anything (although it may be that I haven't witnessed it!) but Legolas does jump or should that be leap off the sofa & across the lounge floor! :))

When I first got piggies I heard that they shouldn't do that because it can injure them, but how do you stop a flying pig?! Even from a baby he would leap off! Now I have Bobby & he too has discovered the joys of jumping! Here is a photo of him taking his first 'jump'! He thought he was the luckiest pig in the world when he found freedom from the sofa - then I caught him!

I have one who will put herself back to bed if you put her down on the floor.

One of my boars has learnt how to open his door. It is hinged along the bottom edge and if he picks the door up it will fall open. His record, so far, has been to open it 3 times in under a minute.

all the escaping & jumping does give them exercise - but it also scares the living daylights out of owners, when you realise one is missing & can't be found! That said, I still wouldn't be without my furries xx :)):)):))

Hehe - me neither.

I was bathing one of my pigs in the kitchen sink which is around waist height. She leapt from there, in one movement, to sit on my shoulder. It was pretty amazing actually! I didn't see that coming!

jumping piggies

One of my piggies- Paddy - had me at the vets when he took a flying leap from the top of his cage which is on top of my utility room worksurface- about 5 feet. He runs up and down the stairs and is totally fearless, will sit on my lap quite happily and then run up my arm - without warning- and hurl himself off the back of the armchair. Gives me heart attacks :) but love him to bits x

The very first time my pigs ever popcorned, I thought they had fleas or something that were making them jump! xx

wow didnt realise this many people had flying/jumping pigs!
