We were asked to adopt another piggy. We said no as we know our limitations and on is all we can take care of Eli properly.
We can afford vet and everything Eli needs but not two piggies. I am 70 and my husband is older so age has a factor also.
The person got angry and called me selfish.
I did call my vet and the gal surrounded them to her.
I did not feel guilty or selfish but a bit angry at the situation.
Nothing wrong with knowing your limitations and saying no.
Thanks for listening.

I'm sure the person who asked about you adopting a companion for Eli meant well. Guinea pigs are social creatures. They do best in pairs with their own kind. Single piggies can become very lonely even if their human slaves are devoted to them as you clearly are.
In the UK. reputable rescues would rarely adopt out lone males unless they are to be paired up with another male piggy or are to be neutered to go with a sow. Most piggies get paired up in rescue for their own good.
I'm sorry you felt under attack. It sounds like it got a bit heated/aggressive and that's never acceptable behaviour or a good way to get one's point across.
