If I get any of the babies from the guinea pig I am getting from Trebaron, will I need to give the babies like babies nuggets? Like Oxbow juvenile pellets?
Or could they just have the normal oxbow pellets?
Would I need to introduce the vegetable a little at a time?
What would be the best vegetable to start off with?

I don't know all the answers but I'll try and help :)
I don't personally use oxbow pellets (i use excel) so I'm not sure. I would assume the junior one would be better though as I *think* it's alfalfa based so will have the extra calcium.
And yes, you'll need to introduce veggies slowly. You could start with something like little bits of green bean, carrot or pepper. They may start nibbling on it in a few days.

Pups should be fully weaned before being rehomed so have usually been eating pellets the same as mum - I read some pups start eating solids from a few days old (born with teeth :)))
As many piggies from places other than rescues may not have had veggies, best to introduce them slowly and gradually:

Some of my piggies took a week or two to get used to varities of veggies but now eat everything.
Pellets should be of a good brand (muesli is not the best as full of fatty bits) and you can again gradually introduce your choice and wean fully.
Ours love Wagg Optimum over every variety and 18 piggies cannot be wrong.
I use this site for pellets - order 20k per month, free delivery to your door ;)

they should of been eating fresh food from the day after they were born along with pelleted dry food and lots of hay, oxbow is VERY expensive, try harringtons this is a popular pellet, you should have no problem changing over dry food, its when they are older that they become set in their ways and are more stubborn to change.

I'm not sure why but I assumed you were getting a piggy that may be pregnant, so my post may be a bit bizarre

Thanks everyone for the replies!
I get oxbow for my other guinea pigs but I was thinking maybe the juvenile ones where better for them.
Will start them off with carrots and move them on to like peppers, cucumber

Yeah, she's pregnant but I ain't having her until she has the babies!
I will be taking the female babies, thats why I was asking what food to feed them, I know the pregnant guinea pig is on science selective but I don't wanna keep her on it that's why I was thinking maybe Oxbow

Just out of interest why change her off science selective? Obviously if you have oxbow for your other piggies then I understand buying two is a pain but if not it's a decent food...

My other piggie's won't eat science selective

Could you not just buy a 2k bag of SS and keep your other piggies on their usual - not all piggies will eat what you want because it's convenient :{
I have 18 little devils and they all eat Harringtons (Wagg) Optimum but some like a bowl of Blackcurrant/Oregano Burgess, SS and some don't.
I give them what they want :x

Burgess say that the blackcurrant and oregano nuggets are suitable for pigs of all ages, and they're teenie tiny so might be good for very young weaned pigs?

Okay, might give them a selection and see which ones they like, that would be better wouldn't it?
