Dental Just a quick question about teeth

My less than a year-old recently broke his tooth. not chipped, literally broke. He has half of it left and it looks healthy, but i was wondering if we would need to go to the vet to get the other one evened out? or what do i do? i want to give my piggie the best care but there aren’t any good vets near me so if there’s a non vet option, that’s always preferred.
 
@furryfriends (TEAS) would be the best person to advise on this.. Are they eating okay?

I would expect the broke one to grow back to it's normal size, i would not have it evened out

Would it be possible to take a picture of the front teeth? This would help us a lot giving you the correct advice.
 
how do i prevent them from biting on the bars? i hold them enough, i feed them enough, they have food, hay, veggies, water, toys, everything. why do they bite?

It is attention seeking behaviour. Perhaps the tips in this guide may help you tackle the issue: Who is the boss - your guinea pig or you?

Although in my house it has become a job that is handed down from one piggy to another, pretty much like that of 'Wheeker for the Tribe'. But they only do it at feeding time while I go round all the cages. otherwise they know that they won't get a reaction. :(
 
I would make sure to watch your guinea pig’s weight. My guinea pig recently fractured his lower incisor and they fell out, but prior to them falling out (I think it was also bar biting that did it) he stopped eating as much and lost quite a lot of weight. You may need to syringe feed him and get some pain medicine if he seems like the tooth hurts him. My guinea pig loves the critical care banana and apple flavored powder, and once they get the concept of putting the syringe in their mouth they love it!
