I adopted a piggy named Paul and he's a year old. How can I introduce him to my piggy Dobby? He has never been bonded before and Dobby has just lost his friend Septimius (Sepi got sick and passed last Wednesday :'( I miss him)
According to Paul's previous owner he is aggressive when it comes to playing by himself, he has made his cage tip over. How can I help them bond? And how can I help him bond with me? How long should I wait to introduce them?

Also I do have a health question, his previous owner says that he's only given him pellets, hay and a little bit of orange before (Hasn't ever been fed any vegetables) How can I introduce vegetables and fruits into his diet since he's already a year old?

:wel: to the forum. Theirs lots of information on the home pages. Advise and great help with everything to do with looking after piggies.
Sorry you lost one and hope you get your new together two to be friends.
We here to help.

Have a good read of the bonding thread above it's really helpful. I've used it twice now and been successful both times. As for veg, once he sees what your other boy is having he will probably try bits out and get to know what he likes. It took me 10 months to get 2 of mine to eat peppers. I offered a small bit 3 or 4 times a week until they tried it and liked it. After grass pepper is probably their favourite food now, I really wanted them to eat it for the vit C content as they won't eat much in the way of fruit or high C veg.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear about the loss of Septimus.
Can’t add the advice given but will look forward to hearing how everything goes and seeing pictures.

Update: So I did put them together for about two weeks but Paul started freaking out, he was terrified of Dobby and was shaking in the corner, breathing heavily and overall wasn't himself. I separated them and he calmed immediately. unfortunately I don't feel it's wise to try again so for now Dobby and Paul are going to be separated.

I am very sorry that it has not worked out.

Can you keep them side by side with interaction through the bars, so Paul can get used to other piggies and they can stimulate each other?

Here are recommended guinea pig rescues for your state; perhaps you can find piggy of Dobby's own choice there?

Thank you, unfortunately my dad won't let me get another guinea pig because I only have room for the one cage (It's a cage that only fits 2 guinea pigs comfortably any more would be unfair to them) I have it split in the middle so that they can still see each other and sorta interact. I also allow them to play on the floor together though Paul still doesn't like to walk around too much yet.

Give Paul time; it may well be that he has never been with another piggy. got much attention and never had run time before.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you. Honestly I don't think his previous owners did much with him and he isn't aggressive at all like they said. He's so sweet, gentle (When he chews on things it barely makes a sound versus when Dobby does and it's very loud) and such a tiny guy.
