Hi,

So I've just come back from Pets @ Home, after adopting two males that I fell in love with.

After getting them home I noticed a cut on one of their ears. I did not see this while in the shop as they whisked them away into a box without going through a health check.

I've washed it with warm salty water and some cotton ball, I got a little bit of gunk off it but it doesn't look much better. Is it worth taking him to the vets? Another thing to add his ear is quite warm to touch compared to the other, could this be an infection?

Aww bless, that doesn't look very nice. Yeah have it vet checked if your concerned. Lovely looking guinea pig :)

He's lovely. I would get that checked by a vet, they will be able to clean it up and rule out anything like a skin condition. You should be able to reclaim your vets fees from Pets at Home if it is a skin issue like fungal.

What a gorgeous boy. You've done the right thing so far by cleaning it with salt water. I would take him to a nurse at your vets, just to be on the safe side, but I'm sure he'll be right as rain in no time.

first he is lovley of you contact the store you got him from you have health insurance on him for the first few days and they will cover any vets bills and treatment he may need all i owuld recomend is that you go to your own vet as I'm constantly telling the staff at my local pets at home the things there doing wrong only this week they had items in the degu cage that can kill them so need less to say i have zero faith in there animal care and would not trust the vets in house for the same reason.

hope he is ok

Managed to get him into the vets this evening, was told that it was a bite that had happened while at the pet shop. He was given an iodine wash and an injection of anti-inflammatory. Been told to continue the salt wash, and to come back if he needs antibiotics or I want the hole closing up with surgery.

Looks like I'll be popping back into Pets @ Home tomorrow with the vets invoice. Hopefully the next pet they allow out of the store is fully health checked.
